I'm surprised by how simple and yet complex the story is woven between tales & whatever is actually happening.

it's a really unique kind of storytelling
and I like the cover with the dark blue/purple colours and how the art is "hidden" behind the title and you don't really get the whole picture unless you look closely because it's so dark and interwoven - kinda like the writing style

Dion Graham was amaaaaaaazing as the narrator! He definitely gave the story more oomph in audio. There's a few songs & poetry in the later end of the book. Total treat to hear in audio.
Writing flow is a bit rough in the way parts are linked together but I adored the use of African lore and how that was a core part of the story.

Dion Graham was ama..."
Good to hear, I was curious about the audio since I loved the ebook version.

I'm intrigued by this story, but it's really hard for me to understand what's going on (I'm not native in english, so the unusual story telling is kinda hard on me)
I think I'll try the audio book, maybe reading and listening simultaneously helps:)

but the african lore is really interesting

I like the flow of the stories because we are mostly seeing from Red Wolf/Tracker's viewpoint. When you think about your life and what you do day to day, if you talk about it, you don't choose to talk about every little detail. It's more about the key aspects that you think are important and how they may connect. Sometimes there is no connection except that it all centers around your life.
Most of the violent and sexual stuff are one liners. In an odd way, that makes them stand out as stark entries because it's not drawn out. More of an impact that way but also easy to miss because several things are happening all at once.
