Magro - I saw your review, and that is what prompted me to download it. ;o)I just got back from picking up Off to Be the Wizard at the library. I think this was a hold over on my wish list for last year. Oh, well - just for fun then!
I was checking on an inter-library loan request for a book that I submitted in Dec, and the lady at the counter had no record of it. Do you think I could remember the name of the book?
I picked up Pony on the Twelfth Floor
for my horse on the cover task on the museum challenge and
- just for fun. I am still waiting for audiobook holds that still seem weeks away for Written in My Own Heart's Blood and An Extravagant Death - for series reads.
Our libraries are finally open after being closed since December last year. I have a number of books ready and waiting for me to pick up, hopefully tomorrow.
Great news Anna! I now put my acquired books in a "sin bin" for a few days once I receive them just to be safe. At this stage, what's a few more days. So good though, makes such a difference.
Anna, enjoy! I miss our physical library so much but if it wasn't for downloads I'd be gone insane - mind you, I'd have read a lot more from my TBR shelf LOL
My library has been open for book pick up only for quite a while but they are now open for people to come in and browse and check out books. They have requested only 30 minute stays though.
Just got back from the library to pick up my books. Oh, so wonderful, even though I didn't go in. It was great to see our lovely librarians.
I think I mentioned I was helping to judge the BookTube prize and we are now at Quarterfinal stage. I have to read Summer by Ali Smith so I picked this up, along with the other three in the series, (Winter, Spring & Autumn) which people have suggested should be read first.
I also picked up Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line and My Dark Vanessa for the prize and finally Sworn to Silence just because!

My library has been open for a while. Unfortunately, I've had to send a few books back recently unread because I just can't seen to find enough time to read everything I want to. I've made a list though, so I will get to them eventually! I just finished and returned:
Later
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder
Currently I have:
Mrs. Everything - Jennifer Weiner (for my RL book club)
The Things We Leave Unfinished (YLTO monthly challenge)
Winterkeep (yearly challenge)
High Fiber Keto: A 22-Day Plan to Fix Your Metabolism, Lose Weight, and Balance Your Hormones
Skinnytaste Meal Prep: Healthy Make-Ahead Meals and Freezer Recipes to Simplify Your Life: A Cookbook
Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight, and Find Your Path Back to Health
Ready to pick up:
Every Last Fear (I've been dying to read this. I can't remember if I plugged it into the yearly challenge or not at the moment.)
Basketful of Heads (for the Dewey Board Game Sarah posted that I'm trying to do.)
I've paused most of my other requests so I don't get too many at once again, though I seem to be heading that way anyway. I just can't seem to stop myself. lol
Side note:
I am having a really strange issue with the search function. Every time I try to search for Mrs. Everything it tells me that "search is temporarily unavailable" until I refresh the page. I'm not sure if it's a Goodreads issue or a browser issue again.
This is not the first time this has happened with this book and it is always this book. So weird. Sometimes I can search for Jennifer Weiner, then go back to the books and scroll until I find it. Today, I went through 28 pages and it didn't pop up yet, so I searched for it again and it killed my search. So weird.
All of these came from the library at the same time:Conjure Women
Shuggie Bain
Hour of the Witch
None of them were in my plans for this month, so I hope I can manage to get to them in addition to the challenge book and buddy read, because I really, really, want to read these three.
My library is doing curbside pickup and offering mystery bags of books - you can pick from new release Adult or YA - I got the YA bag yesterdayIn it;
Kate in Waiting - Becky Albertalli
Victories Greater Than Death - Charlie Jane Anders
Iron Heart - Nina Varela
Wayward Witch - Zoraida Córdova
Oh that's fun, Dee. Those are some newer books, so I'm guessing they are to borrow and not purchases?

That sounds like fun. Mystery bags have always appealed to me.
I joined my library yesterday!!
I've borrowed: Animal Farm, The Girl in the Woods, The Vanishing Half, How the One-Armed Sister Sweeps Her House, Black Water Lilies, The Girl with the Louding Voice, The Little Friend and The Assistant

Kathy - looks like you have some interesting reading ahead. I’ve only read the first one listed. Can you finish them all before they expire?

I doubt it very much! My time for reading expectations are much higher then reality I think but I shall give them a good go. The good thing is I can renew a couple of times provided no one puts a hold on the book. Ultimately, I have 9 weeks to read them all.

Good for you for joining the library Kathryn. You'll never be stuck for a book now 👍I have a big backlog of purchased books but I still can't resist the online library. As I live in a very rural area (the middle of the bogs) there are a lot of wifi blackspots so I mostly download them to listen on the move. I always chose more books than I can manage so now I also have a backlog of untouched library books clogging up my phone! Yet still I go for more shiny new things......
my library is now open for browsing but you have to make appointments - so i had one for saturday - i mostly hit up the new release sections and just grabbed any book that looks interesting - in the pile:A Good Mother
The Children's Blizzard
Dead Dead Girls
Happy Endings

Our's is 3 weeks with up to 2 renewals. New releases can't be renewed.

We do have the ruling about no holds as well. I was reading a book, not worrying about renewing it, only to be surprised I couldn't because someone had put a hold on it.
We have four weeks, with up to five renewals, if no holds. Some copies of new, very in-demand books are so called quick loans, they have only a two-week period, no renewal and no on hold allowed.

My library has a "freeze" option so that you can have some control over when you receive your holds. They are switching systems & just shut it off so I got a bunch of books at once. I was not planning on reading any of these right now, but I hope I can read a couple before they need to go back. I have:
Miss Benson's Beetle
The Children's Blizzard
Surviving Savannah
Before and After: The Incredible Real-Life Stories of Orphans Who Survived the Tennessee Children's Home Society - I had this one out before and ran out of time to read it. I'm hoping this isn't a repeat!
I also have 2 books in transit:
Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead for my real life book club.
The Things We Leave Unfinished - I want to re-read the end because I speed read it to finish it on time before.
I was able to re-freeze Yellow Wife. I hope that one doesn't come in for a while. I have my work cut out for me trying to get to all of these!
It's annoying when that happens, Kristie. The Children's Blizzard is also in my TBR. Actually, I was planning to read that one and also The Children's Blizzard this year, since it sounds a very interesting event. I am so behind with my plans that I am not so sure now.
Sandra - Did you mean to add a second book besides The Children's Blizzard? You added it twice.I have so many books that I planned to read this year and quite a few that I've had to return to the library unread. I definitely have more interest than time.
Lol, no! They have the same title. The first one is fiction, by Melanie Benjamin (the one you got from the library), and the second one is non-fiction, by David Laskin.
Oh!!! hahaha I see that now! Man, it has not been my day. lol I'd be interested in the nonfiction as well.
My post was confusing. I should have clarified. I look forward to your thoughts on the fiction one, if you get to it on time.
So... my hold for Yellow Wife un-froze again. I'm not sure why and it's pretty frustrating. I now have the 4 books in my above post that were already borrowed plus the 3 others listed are ready to be picked up. There is no way I can read them all before they are due back. I'll just have to decide as I go.
I have a slew of books from the library right now and I'm hoping I will be able to read most of them. Unmentionable: The Victorian Lady's Guide to Sex, Marriage, and Manners
Finlay Donovan Is Killing It
The Thursday Murder Club
Miss Benson's Beetle
Such a Fun Age
We Should All Be Feminists
The Nature of Fragile Things
One Two Three
These all sound so good! I hope I can get to them all. I also still have Surviving Savannah which I really want to read, but it is unlikely I'll have time for this one. I suppose it depends if I am able to renew it and how quickly I am able to read the books I currently have for review.
I am picking up text copies of Bridge of Birds and Home to Italy tomorrow. Both are for my museum challenge.I am returning Hotel of the Saints as DNF.
I did not realize it was a book of short stories. I read the first three stories. I liked the first one, but the other two were strange. Short stories are just not my cup of tea.
