Just picked up
The Happiness Project: Or Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun.
I found 2 books that I liked on the Kindle sale A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking
Small Gods
I'm looking at day 5 of audible sale and seeing if I'll like anything, since I'm finally done the busiest week of school I can finally go back to reading :)
I bought Witching For Grace from the Kindle Daily Deals. It's another of the Hot Flash genre. It's got an amazing cover and maybe I will use it for my June monthly challenge, or the toppler since it's only 298 pages. I didn't get anything from the last day of the sale, though I was really tempted to get The Autobiography of Kathryn Janeway: Captain Janeway of the USS Voyager tells the story of her life in Starfleet, for fans of Star Trek just to listen to Kate Mulgrew narrate.
I've put The House in the Cerulean Sea in my cart to pick up later today for next month's themed read.
I pre-ordered The Desert Prince which I'm very excited about. I also bought Stories of Your Life and Others as it was only 99p. A friend gave me The Mammoth Book of Time Travel SF too.
I'm looking to that one too Sarah. Does anyone know if it's the start of a few series? If so I might wait til its finished and binge it.
Margo wrote: "I'm looking to that one too Sarah. Does anyone know if it's the start of a few series? If so I might wait til its finished and binge it."Yes it's the first book in a new series. It is set in the same world as his other series, 15 years on I think. So some of the kids from the other series are the focus in this one.
From the Audible sale I ended up with these from the last 2 days of the saleSet Fire to the Gods
Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line
Celtic Mythology: Tales of Gods, Goddesses, and Heroes
A Thousand Ships
I'm Not Dying with You Tonight
Rhett & Link's Book of Mythicality: A Field Guide to Curiosity, Creativity, and Tomfoolery
and I used a credit on
Brother Odd
I ended up getting The Bright Side of Going Dark from the Audible sale yesterday. I think it will be a lighter (probably cheesy) read. I seem to be leaning towards those recently, so I've purchased a few.
Margo wrote: "I'm looking to that one too Sarah. Does anyone know if it's the start of a few series? If so I might wait til its finished and binge it."I had no idea there's a new book! I think I'll do the same, and wait till they're all published before I read them.
I bought a couple of books in the past few weeks, mostly secondhand. The Huntress
The Travelling Cat Chronicles
Fangirl
The Smoke Thieves
The Rest of Us Just Live Here
The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden
Taal is zeg maar echt mijn ding
Jacoba, Dochter van Holland
Well, it's shorter than some other lists here and I didn't buy them all in one day! ;-)I think I own 2 of her books now. I've heard good things but ever since the first lockdown I have avoided war books. Too depressing on top of everything else..
I'm certainly not judging! lol Looks Iike you have a few good books there. I understand about the war books. WWII is usually a favorite genre of mine, but I've been reading less and less of them lately.
Kristie wrote: "Just a couple, Peggy. lol ;) I really enjoyed The Huntress. I like Kate Quinn's writing a lot."
I enjoyed it too, but I think I enjoyed The Rose Code more.

Thanks Sarah. I hope I hold out till it's finished, I'm so fed up with having to reread earlier installments that I've only half forgotten. 6 months is about the limit of my memory.
Peggy wrote: "Well, it's shorter than some other lists here and I didn't buy them all in one day! ;-)..."
I love that justification, I will definitely use that the next time I indulge 😂🤣😂
Lol, that's why I bought 3 news books since I last posted ;-)My Sister, the Serial Killer
Euphoria
Turtles All the Way Down
Why does it seem like the less I read, the more books I buy? Or maybe it's the other way around and I'm spending my reading time on buying books ;-)
I know that feeling! I tend to spend a lot of time browsing the library, posting here ( now that have more time) or thinking about the annual challenge. There's barely anytime left to actually read!
I had a couple of audible credits so used them on Rising Strong and There is Nothing to Fix: Becoming Whole Through Radical Self-Acceptance
Peggy wrote: "I had no idea there's a new book! I think I'll do the same, and wait till they're all published before I read them"Ack, I don't think I could wait. Haha!
My audible credits reset on the 12th, so I thought - yay! I will get some books from the sale. So I got Siege and Storm and Nemesis Games and after I completed the transaction realized that my credits weren't there yet and so I just bought an extra credit - oops! So I guess I will go back to the sale tomorrow when I actually have credits lol!

I have Those Who Wish Me Dead in my sale cart, but I haven't decided what to get to go with it. So far, everything I'm interested in is either available through my library or I already own it. I saw the movie version of Those Who Wish Me Dead. It was good, but the blurb for the book and the sample I listened to sound like it's a completely different story. I would think that it's just a case of coincidental titles except they used scenes from the movie for the cover. I'm guessing the movie was just loosely based on the books, taking some of the major scenes or themes and building off them.
I guess it's a good thing that I didn't use my June credits on the Audible sale because I just remembered that there are 2 audiobooks coming out this month that I really wantTroy on the 22nd and
The Mirror Season on the 14th
I normally don't have my credits planned for, but I have been waiting for both those books.
I received on Friday in the mail:Strange Weather in Tokyo
Jamilia
Gentlemen Of The Road
Athenian Blues
Kin
I had a conversation with my Mum about challenges about 6 weeks ago and mentioned I keep needing books about dogs, and did she still have her copy of The Hundred and One Dalmatians. She turned up at family lunch on Monday and handed over her copy from when she was a kid and it was first published for me so I can do dog tasks lol
Librarians. They know what matters.
I really enjoyed Kin. The other titles (other than 101 Dalmatians) are new to me. Off to check them out.
Cherie wrote: "Your mom is awesome, Rusalka!"She is pretty wonderful. I am very lucky to come from a family of librarians, and people who value reading as incredibly important. Even when money was scarce, ways were always found for books, and weekly library visits were always the priority.
She discovered reading challenges through a bookmark from the city libraries last year, so she has discovered the addiction. Now she is a complete and utter enabler.
Janice wrote: "I really enjoyed Kin. The other titles (other than 101 Dalmatians) are new to me. Off to check them out."I've had Strange Weather in Tokyo recommended multiple times in a couple of weeks in the Around the World group.
I bought books 3 and 4 of the Grisha series Ruin and Rising and The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic because they were both less than $8
Oh boy! (said with a groan) Audible has a sale and there are 5 books in my cart. I could add a whole lot more since there are several book on my wishlist around the $7.00 mark.
This sale is going to be trouble for me. I could probably pick up 50 pretty easily with series alone. I'm trying to decide if I should buy a couple from each series or all of one or two series... the problem with buying all of a series is that some of them are pretty long.
All the books I'm looking at are under $10. It doesn't make sense to pay more than the cost of a credit for a book. It still adds up pretty quickly though. I just put the books I'm interested in in my cart and then I'll remove some. My current issue is the Miss Fortune series. They are only about $6 each, which is even better than the whispersync deal, and only from Audible, so not available from the library, but there are 19 available. I own the first 6, but 13 more books at $6 each is still a lot.
I've also started a few other long series, some even longer than Miss Fortune (Elvis Cole...), so I'm thinking maybe a couple each, but again, there are several series so it ends up being a lot all at once. Yet, still less than buying them outside of the sale. I've got a couple of days to decide which to go with.
I checked the whispersync deals and only one was cheaper that way - Mad Mouse. It was .99 Kindle/1.99 Audiobook. So I bought the Kindle. I'm debating about leaving it as it. I can always pick up the audiobook if we get any coupons. But, it's only $1.99. Sheesh. Miss Fortune, you say? I've been reading the kindle books instead of the audiobooks. But I may have to rethink that.
ETA - the Audiobooks are $5.98 USD (or $7.41 CDN). The Kindle is $7.99 CDN. I think I'll keep on with the Kindle editions.
I picked up My Sister, the Serial Killer on Kindle daily deal for $2.99 since it could be one of the group reads in July.

lol, Margo! I share my Audible with Craig, but I'm in charge of purchasing. Fortunately, he likes a lot of the same books I do. So, I'd go with something like, "Audible had a sale and look what I got you!!" lol Then, it's thoughtful instead of a splurge. hehe

Kristie, since you share your account with Craig, that is only 12 for you and 11 for him. I actually think you should go with 24 to make it even. ;)

🤣🤣🤣 I like the way you think!
I've been slowly narrowing it down, but it seems silly to not buy something that I will eventually buy anyway for more money.
