SOLVED. Mystery book with gay protagonist looking for a boy lost in a snow storm. [s]

I am looking for a book series that is an adult mystery/detective story with a male gay detective, I remember browsing the barnes & nobles mystery section and finding these books. I am embarrassed to admit I never read them, At the time I was uninterested but now I have changed my mind long after I have forgotten it, I hate it when that happens. The first book in the series blurb said the detective was closeted, but a later book in the series blurb said he was eventually out, but still struggling with his identity, or people knowing his identity, this same book fallows a little boy in a small town getting lost in a snow storm, and the race against time to find him. The cover was some kind of snowy road. I am having a hard time remembering when I found it, but somewhere around 2017 - 2020. When ever I search "Gay Detective" I find erotic looking books, the one I am thinking of is not erotic. Please help me, I am loosing my mind.

Author's gender?

If it's set in Scandinavia or some similar always snowy locale, that means many series can be ruled in or out.

The Thomas Lynch series by Stephanie Gayle? The first book, Idyll Fears, mentions that he's keeping his sexuality a secret. The second book, Idyll Threats, is about a little boy missing in a blizzard, and has a snowy road on the cover.

Sorry, got the titles the wrong way round - Book 1 is Idyll Threats, Book 2 is Idyll Fears.

If you are on the desktop version, you should see a little edit button after your topic. After you click that it should take you to a page with "Edit topic" as a heading, and you should see a drop-down menu with the folders. You just choose solved from the menu and save.
I can't see the button on the mobile version, but I would assume that it is somewhere after the topic or near it.
