Savana, we can ask in the buddy read thread if anyone wants to join us. I want to read over several months, one part per month.

Awesome Savana! It will be fun to discuss with you! Since I’m already reading War and Peace I’ll jump in a buddy read too! I’m taking it very slow, it’s my book project for the year. I think I’m about 45% through but I’d love to discuss with others!
I've been away for awhile, what a difference a week plus makes. Welcome to all our new members, so glad you have joined us.
Hi I am Mary Wren, from Montana! I am new to this group… And literally new to any group at all lol. It sounded like fun though and I have lately been trying to read classics that I felt everyone else has read. I have read quite a few, but my favorite so far has been Jane Eyre. I’m not familiar with how everything works but I will give it my best! Looking forward to chatting and getting new book ideas from everyone :-) cheers!
Glad you made it over here, Mary. I think you will find the site is pretty easy to navigate, but if you need any help at all, please feel free to ask. You might check out our challenge threads...maybe a little Bingo? Might help you stay motivated. Again, welcome aboard.

Welcome Mary. I read Jane Eyre two years ago with the group. I really loved it! Our threads stay open even if the book is not being featured as a monthly read. If you locate the Bronte Sisters file, there are a few Jane Eyre threads there you might be interested in. Post on any threads you like.

Hi everyone, my name is Chris, and I joined this group to be among people who love to read and talk about classics. So happy to see such a large and active group!
Welcome aboard, Chris. You have come to the right place for finding active classics lovers. Please join a group read, a buddy read, or suggest a book for our next poll. I will be looking forward to getting to know you in the threads!
Hi, I have a goal of reading and re-reading more classics in 2022 so challenges from this group will help.
The challenges are definitely a way to encourage yourself and keep reading. The planning alone has brought many wonderful books my way. So happy to have you here--Have fun.
Olavi. ChrisW, abd CindySlow, I am so glad you joined this group. You will meet some delightful people. I hope you discovery many wonderful books.
Hey everybody! I'm Sneha and I'm from India. I've always wanted to read more classics but have often felt a bit intimidated by them haha. I have, however, read a few - I enjoyed Crime and Punishment a lot. I'm actually new to Goodreads and it's taking me a while to figure out how this group thing works. Only just realised there is an Introduction thread :) Anyhow, really excited to see how active this group is, and hoping to get some new book ideas and discuss them with you all.
Hello Sneha, I am glad you have joined us. I hope you have found many things you like so far in our group!
Hello everyone. I'm Armin and I'm from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I love classics and have a lot to catch up, but I can see that you are a great group that brings up excellent titles of classic literature every month, so I I'm looking forward to read many books with you and discuss them here :)

Hello Armin, I am glad you joined us. Any thread is open for discussion, even for books that are not a Book of the Month. I hope you find many books that you enjoy!
Hi, Matthew from Key West, looking to slog through some Russian door-stoppers that I dodged in high school and college, you know, all those holes in one's classical library that we never got around to reading. Atlas Shrugged took forever and was desperately in need of an editor, and I have a feeling War and Peace will be the same. Interestingly enough, now that I am almost 45 and a lifelong reader, I can effectively look back on what I was "forced" to read in HS and college and see that some were true masterpieces, while others were absolute drivel (to me anyway.)So, thanks for having me!
Welcome Matthew, good luck with War and Peace. I finally checked it off my list this year, it’s worth the effort.
Hello! My name is Madelyn. I am a freshman in high school and a total beginner when it comes to classics. I've only read the first part of Little Women-I LOVE this book, Of Mice and Men, and Lord of the Flies. I'm looking to read classics that are a bit easier language wise, so if you have any recommendations like that feel free to let me know! I'm glad to be here:)
Welcome Matthew and Madelyn! Matthew - I’m currently reading War and Peace right now. I’m loving it! I tried reading it when I was younger and was thoroughly confused so I definitely needed some more years to appreciate it. 😁
Madelyn - Two of my favorites that I’ve read many times over are The Blue Castle and Daddy Long Legs. They are very easy reading. ☺️ One of my all time favorite books is Count of Monte Cristo. It’s a big one but I think the story just sucks you right in. The first time I read it was in 8th grade and I’ve read it multiple times since.

Hi Matthew and Madelyn! I’m fairly new to this group too so welcome :-) The only Russian classic I have read is Anna Kerenina which was a slog but I really enjoyed it so maybe this will inspire me to read War and Peace too!
Madelyn - the first classic I read was Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte when I was about 11 or 12 and I’ve loved it ever since. I find anything by Jane Austen quite easy to read as well. Hope this helps.
Welcome everyone! We have a buddy read of War and Peace, but I´m a bit behind, so please join in if you like! :)
Hello, I am Eugene, from Russia. I've been studying English throughout my whole life. After many years of torments and anguish I've become accustomed to this wonderful language. And a few years ago I mustered up courage to read my first book in English. It wasn't an easy undertaking! But now I've gotten so confident that I am currently reading The Well at the World's End by William Morris and can actually understand what is going on in this book! With every day I become more and more enamored with English language. I wonder how long this honeymoon phase will last? :) Anyway, I am really looking forward to reading and rereading some of my favorite English-speaking authors without the help of translators. This group seems like a wonderful community. I hope to get some great recommendations here.
Thanks for having me.
Hi Eugene! Welcome to the group! We have quite a few multilingual members. I'm always so impressed with people that can speak multiple languages. I've been working on learning Japanese and Spanish and I'm nowhere near fluent. :)
How exciting! It is always nice to have new members. Welcome to Matthew, Madelyn, and Eugene.
Matthew it is so nice to hear from someone who appreciated High School Literature class. Madelyn you have already read some great titles! Eugene I am always impressed with the multi-lingual members of our community. You will find many people to talk to about translations. I hope you all find many books here to love.
