Welcome to the Group - Introductions
Welcome, Eva. This is the best "social media" you will ever find. And the bingo is definitely fun.

Hello Eva and welcome. I know what you mean about FB. I severely limited my activities on there a few years ago, and worlds of opportunities opened up! Join any discussion you like. I love Bingo.

Thanks, Lynn! I've really enjoyed looking at the threads and seeing what everyone's reading. It's nice to be among people who read books other than contemporary releases.
Hello, everyone! I joined goodreads some days ago, having used shelfari before it closed years and years back. I have to read a lot for work (technical books, mostly IT) and so tend not to read a huge amount of fiction, but when I do, I really like it to count :) Yes, I enjoy literature and classics, but I also enjoy modern novels and sometimes have a peek at contemporary works that are making a bit of a splash! I enjoy film and creative writing too, especially interested in adaptations. I also find television can be a stronger medium for character development than film, so sometimes enjoy a good box-set. I find fiction helps me to think about my world and so am not averse to bridging between classics and popular culture, even, if I'm finding links!I've gone on a bit... sorry - last point, I joined to connect and chat, so hopefully this group does encourage that.
Happy reading, everyone! Meantime I'm half-way through about nine novels, so first thing for me is to finish those :)
Bob wrote: "Welcome to the group Sid, glad you are with us."Thanks for the warm welcome, Bob. I'm just eyeing-up personal challenges section and may well challenge myself to clear my "currently reading" before starting anything new!
Glad to have you here, Sid. I think you will find lots of places to chat here and to discuss the books you read with others. (Nine at one time! You are industrious! You might want to check out the Chit Chat and All That thread.

Welcome Sid! This group is a lot of fun. I just started actively participating this year and have already read so many great books that I wouldn’t have chosen on my own. We’ve been having lots of lively discussions about them which has been great!

Hi, Natalie - thanks for the warm welcome :) Well, I hope so! I can be quite chatty and I think there's definitely a pleasure in sharing thoughts about our reading :)
Hi Sid, and welcome to the group. Plenty to read, discuss, and chat about here. Hope you enjoy it.

Hi, Lynn - it's lovely, thanks :) I'm currently re-reading an old classic which was a childhood favourite too: "The Hobbit"!

Sounds great. I recently reread a childhood book that I loved. Anne of Green Gables. It is so nice to revisit those books with adult eyes.

Indeed, besides which Anne of Green Gables is one I've missed-out on and really should visit some time soon :)

Hi, Tara, thanks for the welcome. I'm enjoying it, certainly. I'll find myself tempted to re-read "The Lord of the Rings" when I've finished it, I'm guessing ;-)
Hello everyone, my name is Lucija. I'm a university student. I prefer to read classics and historical fiction, so this group seems like a perfect match for me. I like how nice everyone is and I enjoyed reading other introductions. I hope to participate in group activities because they seem interesting and varied.
Welcome to the group, Lucija. We are glad that you joined us. I look forward to discussing books with you.
Yes, welcome Lucija. I do hope to see you in the threads...I'm a big fan of both classics and historical fiction as well. Always something new to learn about. Check out the challenges...never too late to join in.

Hello everybody! nice to meet you. My name is Yamila (but you can call me Yami), I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I've been an avid reader since I was a little kid, and my all-time favorite book is the classic "The Count of Montecristo".
I always try to read at least one classic a year, but I don't know if it's just me or classics tend to require more of our time and mental energy. I guess this is why sometimes it's easier for me to just pick a more current one when I want to relax.
I'm hoping this group will help me to "catch up on the classics" and offer a place to chat about them with you all.
Just a quick disclaimer: as English is not my first language I'm prone to make mistakes while writing, I hope you can understand
Welcome Millie and Yami! There are several members whose first language isn´t English, me being one of them. :)

Welcome Yami! The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my top five favorite books! I love it so much.
Classics are definitely harder to read. I was just laughing about how it took me 2.5 months to get through 750 pages in Portrait of a Lady but I just cruised through this 650 page modern mystery in a few days. 😂

Exactly my thoughts! 😂. It's so hard to read classics at the same pace. Glad I'm not the only one feeling that way.
Welcome, Yami. Never worry about the English thing (although yours seems perfect). I am in awe of those who speak and read multiple languages! Hope you enjoy your reading here and become addicted to the Classics.

As for the group, I've already checked the "buddy reads" section and I'm starting Dracula soon. I'm also curious about the bingo, so I might try that as well!

I agree with Sara, your English is very good. Bingo is a lot of fun, so I would encourage you to give it a try.

Hi everyone, I am Bojana from Toronto. I am an avid reader (my glasses prescription is proof) and for a long time classics were all I read. Recently, I have softened and started exploring other genres but am staying devoted to classics, my very first love. I have a plan to read all of the amazing books you guys have been adding to the bookshelf I just discovered. Thanks for that and cheers!
Welcome Bojana! That’s great that you’ve already read so many! I look forward to the insights you’ll bring to our discussions. 😊

This group has introduced me to lots of great reads that I wouldn’t have chosen on my own. It’s been a lot of fun!
Goodreads is the only “social media” I use. 😄
Welcome!!!
