Thanks -- and welcome, Shelby!
Welcome Tory. If you are looking for a way to add to your to-be-read list of books, this is definitely the place to be!! LOL I have found perhaps too many books to purchase.

Same here. Course, now I'm working on getting a good set of shelves so that I can expand on my collection. There's always a way!

After looking through some threads last night, I feel like I've found my people!
We are so happy to be your people, Regina. Welcome aboard. I saw you were working on the challenge list and I will be back to check on you soon. I think you will find this group is great fun.

I love a good reading list and yearly challenge so I'm grateful for the work that goes into that! This year I challenged myself to read 200 books (including *many* audiobooks), and happily, I'm on track. It will be good to get "back to basics" a bit next year and focus on quality rather than quantity.
Anyway, thanks again for the group and look forward to chatting. :)
Welcome, Kathryn. Since you love a challenge, you will no doubt enjoy our Bingo and Buffet Challenges. Sign up for as many (or as few) as you wish. We have a lot of fun following one another during the year. I suspect you will add to my TBR, reading all those books!

Welcome to the group, Emily. I have found authors and books I have loved through this group....and convinced I would never have found them otherwise.

So glad that you are here with us to read more classics. Enjoy.

Welcome, Emily! There are a bunch of very passionate readers in this group, and it's a friendly crowd. Come by and share about what you are reading! I peeked at your profile -- are you enjoying Pride and Prejudice? That's a book I loved. If you feel adventuresome, Ibi Zoboi did a "remake" of it a few years back that I enjoyed -- Pride. A less famous author that I have enjoyed, Patrice Sarath, has The Unexpected Miss Bennet, whcih is on my to-read list.
Anyway, welcome!
Lovely to have you join us, Speluncus. I see you found the Buddy Read thread, and I think you will find someone interested in reading with you all through the year. Please also nominate books you are interested in for group reads and vote for your choices. Our group reads are usually well-populated and lively.

Hello Kate. The threads never change. Please join any discussion that looks interesting. Welcome.

I read some discussions here and everyone seems so nice! I hope to soon be a part of some discussions and group readings!

Also delighted to see you here, Ana. Not sure if you are aware, but there is a buddy read for Les Misérables that will stretch the better part of the year. You can find it here:

Welcome to the group.
Welcome to the group.

I read 59, mostly smaller classics last year and I am looking forward to doing a similar number this year. Just finished The Screwtape Letters and loved it!

Hello to you! And welcome to the group.
Welcome Ana, Luna, and Pete. I hope you like the group as much as I do. Remember that the book discussion threads never close. Join in any discussion you would like.

I am a citizen of the world, Greek native, and I love reading classics (mostly new school classics). At the top of my list are Greek, Russian, and mostly American classics, as my education is American. I love everything about the classics, from how curious and well-rounded the authors are, to their grammar, spelling and tone, to the plots and characters that often remain relevant in today's world.
I would love to explore more British literature, women authors, and classics all around the world.
Would love any recommendation you have!
Welcome to the group, Anastasia. I love classics for much the same reasons you cite. I would say 50% of my favorites are British classics, but I probably lean more old school than new. You are not going to have any problem finding reads or getting recommendations here. Check out this thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
