welcome Alyssa! - It was especially the re-reading that brought me to GR in general and to this group in particular. It took the many re-readers here to convince me that I am not crazy (as my friends think I am) when I re-read and re-re-read and sometimes re-re-re-read books.

I laughed at your post, Sabagrey. Nothing nuts about that--sometimes you get as much the third read as you did on the first, because some books are worth the effort and others always give the pleasure.

You know I had not considered re-reading to be an unusual thing, but I suppose some people might. Welcome to the re-read club!! lol

Welcome to the group."

Hi, I just joined the group. My name is Adam and I love reading classics, when I have time to! I'm currently reading my first Anthony Trollope novel, the Warden. I'm about halfway through and enjoying it so far. My favorite classic is Les Miserables. I hope to be able to find some new classic treasures by joining this group. I enjoy having discussing books that I've read, or are currently reading with others, so this seemed like a place for me. My other hobbies are playing tennis, listening to music, and visiting new places.

message 610: by Hallie (new)

Hallie (hallie20) Hi. I joined this group in hopes of exposing myself more to classic books. My exposure has been limited to the required readings I had in school and those never really grabbed my interest (at least not as a teen). Instead of only sticking to what is familiar to me, I’d like to challenge myself to try something different/new!

I felt the same back at my days at school, but later I found that I really like and enjoy reading classic books. I hope you'll find good ones and without being 'forced' to read them and without thinking that you NEED to like classics, so good luck and welcome to the group!

message 616: by Dan (new)

Dan | 2 comments Hi! I go by Dan and I'm here because I've recently been bored with a lot of the books I've been reading. I had very little exposure to classics in my education, and back then they felt too complicated for me – hence, I never really thought classics would interest me, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out the opposite. I'm currently reading Crime and Punishment and I'm hoping to be done with it by the time October rolls around so I can read along with you all and join discussions. :)

message 623: by Donald (new)

Donald Sinclair | 1 comments Hi. I’m Don. I live in central Florida. I joined this group a few days ago. I found Goodreads a few months back but have just now started to explore all it has to offer. I joined this group because I read and enjoyed The Turn of the Screw, Wuthering Heights, and The Chaulk Garden. Although I haven’t picked up another classic since, and it’s been many years, I am interested and hope this group introduces me to many great classics.

message 624: by Klowey (new)

Klowey | 657 comments A warm welcome Don! Looking forward to your input in the readings.

Given your interests, I've heard from many people in this group that Rebecca is excellent. I've seen the film but have not yet read the book.

Hi Anusha, there are many challenges to keep your mind busy and happy here. But the hardest challenge is unwritten. It is simply to become a regular here. Hope you make it. If not, all is well, too.

Catherine | 1 comments Hi, my name is Catherine and I live in Ireland. I have always loved reading but never had many people to discuss it with. I enjoy reading and learning from others perspectives on books I have read.
My current favourite book is ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ by Shirley Jackson, and the last book I finished was ‘Disgrace’ by JM Coetzee.

Hi Amy. I too have thoughts about starting a podcast. Hope your idea comes to fruition. I like mysteries set in the 1910s up to 1920s. This time zone makes me forget about the World Wars.

I’ve mostly used Goodreads just to keep a list of books, but I figured I’d try and take advantage of more of what it has to offer.
