Meg (megscl) | 326 comments Hi, I'm looking for help with finding some books for my 2021 challenge.

I do the Popsugar reading challenge each year, but have decided to give myself the bonus challenge of doing it with all Aussie authors. (The challenge is here if you are curious... https://media1.popsugar-assets.com/fi...)

I think I've worked out a book for all prompts except 3, so looking for suggestions if you have any ideas!

An afrofuturist book
A book with a family tree
A book that was published anonymously

Andrea | 2164 comments For the anonymous one, have you read The Bride Stripped Bare? It was originally published anonymously although I think we all knew who the author was.

Ah yes, I've already read it!

Carolyn | 9837 comments My Brilliant Career by Miles Franklin was published anonymously. Her name was Stella Miles Franklin but she wanted publishers and readers to think it was published by a man. If you've read it there's her sequel My Career Goes Bung.

Krystal (krystallee6363) | 2304 comments Octavia Butler has to be worth looking into for afrofuturist books, right?

Family trees feels like it should be easy but nothing is coming to mind lol

Veronica ⭐️ | 2384 comments I read a book this year with a family tree in the front.

Was it Grown Ups? Does anyone know?

I will have to have a think about it.

I like octavia butler, but she's not Australian!
And yes family trees should be easy, but it's a hard thing to search for!

Kahlia | 105 comments If you're ok with something that fits the spirit of the Afrofuturism prompt if not the exact definition, you could try The Old Lie by Claire G. Coleman. Otherwise, Eugen Bacon is an African-Australian author, though I haven't actually read any of her work yet.
