I agree - it took a bit to hook me, but then I was all in and WOW what a read. I cannot even imagine. What an amazing family.

Between you and me, you are NOT missing anything by not finishing it. After sitting on it a day, I am tempted to drop my rating from 2 to 1 stars. It was such a huge disappointment. I read the whole thing in hopes that it would get better and it just never did. I totally skimmed that last section. It was just so...meh.

I just feel bad. And Whitehead is supposed to be a really great author! I will definitely try The Nickel Boys and Underground Railroad but yeah, Harlem Shuffle is not for me. It's so boring. Mundane. No excitement.

I LOVED Underground Railroad and have a friend that raved about The Nickel Boys so I think this book must be a one-off. IDK. All I do know is was that it was a boring and excessive and a WTH kind of storyline IS this kind of book,
