Salem's Lot.Loving it so far. About 30% of the way in. Love the intricate details of each character, the setting. Everything.
Couldn't sleep the other night and made the terrible mistake of trying to read this alone at 3:30am. I do not recommend doing that if you value dreams over nightmares.

Salem's Lot is definitely a favorite of mine and I've read it 2-3 times now. It never fails to scare, even when I already know what's going to happen.

Definitely had some nightmares when I read that one!
Half way through The Last House on Needless Street
by Catriona Ward, which is also a group read this month, really into it, it's odd and intense and keeps pulling you in for a little more every time you want to close it.

I'm also reading Salem's lot! I just started this evening, but seeing some other comments on it has me really excited to keep reading!
The Women of Weird TalesAlso,
Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction
I've only just started the other day, but things are already getting weirder, and I'm excited to see where this goes!
Char wrote: "Nice! I want those two Valancourt books."Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction is from Quirk Books. I don't know if the two publishers are connected, but Valancourt's ties to two Quirk publications, Monster and Paperbacks from Hell: The Twisted History of '70s and '80s Horror Fiction, have spawned some very good books. I plan on picking up The Bishop of Hell and Other Stories and I've already read and greatly enjoyed The Dead Hours of Night and A Nest of Nightmares.
I started reading 'Salem's Lot last night. I read it years ago, but can't remember much about it, so I'm looking forward to a re-read. Plus it seemed like a good choice for October!
Hi everyone! I've recently gotten back into reading horror :)I'm currently reading:
- KU, a fun fast-paced alien horror
- 30% in and really enjoying this! Highly recommend the audiobook
- KU, horror comedy
- KU, not too far in but this is my first book by Ketchum

I'm jumping between two totally opposite genres, one is
The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne which is a Norse high fantasy and it's really hitting the spot right now.
The Shadow of the Gods
And Midnight From Beyond the Stars by Kenneth W. Cain, a space horror anthology which has been hella good, at night I have to peel myself away from it because I read way too late.

I've had my eyes on it lately but I'm also apprehensive to get it haha.

Been interested in that one too but I'm also a bit squeamish about it. And since I have so much to read right now I'll wait a bit and think about it.

About to start "The Last House on Needless Street" by Catriona Ward tonight! Super excited to read this :-)
Just read Her infernal name and other nightmares. Two well worth reading short stories, but the rest are a bit tame.

Oops, got them confused, I guess. I can simplify by saying I want to read ALL the books. ;)

I'm loving it!
I'm kicking myself for not reading it much sooner. It's sooo good.

Currently reading:
- 30% in. I was wary because of the low average rating on Goodreads but so far so good!
- still plugging away at this tome (it's almost 900 pages). I'm enjoying taking my time with this read.
- This is a great short story collection that will get you in the mood for Halloween. On Kindle Unlimited!
I started The troop. and still on Something wicked this way comes. I struggle with the writing style; long sentences; it needs more punctuation I feel. ..I don't know.
Just read. There's a rhythm to Bradbury's prose that will carry you along if you find it and just float along it.The other option: Set it aside for a week or two then start over. By that time you may find you've adjusted to that rhythm and have little trouble following it.

I was feeling like it was something like that. I just have to find the rhythm. I wouldn't want to put it aside, I want to be immersed in it. I had trouble at the beginning even my first time reading it, don't know why I can't find it.
