Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson is also known as Rules for Perfect Murders. I have not read it, but I noticed a mystery group moderator warned us that if we have not read the 8 books referred to, this book gives away all the plots and reveals!

I will add a link here to a review by Will Byrnes, who is the #21 GLOBAL reviewer of all time (#13 of all time in the US), so I think you can trust him.

In his review (as in the moderator's that I mentioned), he says:

"Be forewarned, if you have not read these already, or seen the films made of some, the book will spoil them for you. Caveat lector.

Is it beyond the rules of GR librarians to note this?

That sort of information belongs in reviews, not book descriptions -- not unless the author or publisher has chosen to include it in the book's official description.

Ok. I just noticed in some reviews, readers were disappointed to find plots were revealed about books they hadn't read yet. I guess it's the publisher who should warn readers. Thanks, Rivka.
