Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments How did you do with your 2020 determination challenge? Pop down to the 2020 folder and update your progress, and then join in for the 2021 version, with one more challenge for ~~twenty-one~~ total overall books.

DonnaJo is coordinating and challenging us again with fun topics and types of books to add to the standard ten books.

Determination Lists may help you get some of those books read that you've been meaning to read for a while but can't quite get to or motivate you to finish one that isn't easy to read. Twenty-one books may be a big number, so read as many or few as you are determined to read. Tell us why they were on your list and we will cheer you along.

DonnaJo will post our list of challenges for TEN books you want to read plus an optional ELEVEN more to be designated based on specific criteria to make it fun (and easy)
It should be fun to see everyone's progress and books read throughout 2021 so after DJ posts the list to log your progress you may start your own topic under this new 2021 Determination Lists folder.

Suggested steps:
1) Copy the challenge log DonnaJo posts below this in message #2
2) Paste into a new topic of your own and place in this folder **Some list books up front, some list as we go along, either method works!
3) Read and have fun posting your progress, repeat.
4) Share your thoughts as the year goes along here and on the new JF/NR thread either Carol or I will start for the new year.
Happy Reading and Happy New Year!

Donnajo | 4353 comments Thank you Ann for starting the new 2021 thread.

2021 Determination Plus Challenge.

Wow, where did 2020 go. Thank you to all those that have joined us on the Determination Plus Challenge in the past and welcome to any new people joining us. As usual we added a new prompt #21. We kept the prompts the same as the past but might be moved them around or switched the wording but they all mean the same. Good luck.

Books 1-10. Pick 10 books any format you want that you'll been wanting to read, Could be off your own To be read mountains or library etc.

The next 11 books is the "Plus" part of the challenge. Hope you enjoy and are able to find some great book that will fit in.

11. A book set in a different country than you live in.

12. Read a book by an author that you never read before or one by a new debut author.

13. A book that someone recommended to you.

14. A book that is a different genre than your normal type of read (could be out of your comfort zone).

15 & 16. Two books from a series you haven't completed yet (Everyone has that one or two books to still read to catch up in a series).

17. A book that comes out in 2021.

18. A book you meant to read in 2020 but never got around to it.

19. A book that came out before you were born. (this one might be harder to do but we know you can handle it)

20. A book that is done by more than one author (it can be a book of short stories by different authors, or one book that is one story with more than 1 author like Patterson, or Evanovich and I'm sure there are others.

21. A book that won an award.

That's it. If you have any questions just ask. The only rule is have fun. You can list your books ahead or as you read them.
Happy New Year and hope you have bookful one.

You are welcome. Looking forward to seeing what books you end up picking. Long ago with the original determination challenge I used to plan ahead and found sometimes it didn't work for me. I rather decide as I go along.

Donnajo | 4353 comments Glad you are joining us Brad. I’m not a classic lover either but I think I have a idea of one already but I just to double check. In past I think I asked google books before year and it gave me a long list. I think Fahrenheit 451 for me this year it came out 1953. I have print copy.

Brad Audiobibliophile (trollslayer1) | 51 comments I read Fahrenheit 451 last year and enjoyed it. This time I'm going for Roald Dahl's James & the Giant Peach from 1961 which I've neither watched nor read but always intended to.

Donnajo | 4353 comments That sounds like a good one. Back in the stone ages I bought a bunch of his books thinking of reading them never got into them and when I moved in 2000 and got rid of hundreds of books I got rid of them.
