I've read John Green in the past so I decided to pick this book up; needless to say, I was not disappointed. This story follows the main character Aza Holmes, who suffers from numerous mental health disorders like OCD and high anxiety. The plot of the book is driven by how Aza copes with her mental health, and the situations she finds herself in (high school events, romance, etc). One of the main conflicts involves the runaway of one of her classmate's father, with the reward of $10,000. Compelled to earn this, Aza works with her friend Daisy to gain more information on their mysterious classmate and his father.
I would rate the story a 4 out of 5. I found that Aza's inner conflicts were relatable as I suffer from anxiety as well. It was nice seeing a character with the same struggles as me and seeing how they live life with it. I found some parts of the story to be boring, and even made me lose interest, but in general it was a good read. As mentioned earlier, one of the main topics/themes of this story is mental health, which is something many people could learn from these days. Turtles All the Way Down gives a good glimpse on how it feels to suffer with multiple disorders at once, and John Green nails it perfectly.
Having read this book in the past, I can say this was an accurate review, covering all the right points. I would have appreciated if you at least mentioned Davis, as he comes up pretty early in the book, but regardless, a good review that found the main point of the book, the struggle with one's mental health. John Green being someone who suffers from anxiety could easil have written this from the heart and it shone.
