I think we will all agree that this has been the strangest year ever. And given the blizzard beginning outside my window today (12/23/2020), I don't think 2020 is quite finished with us yet. With all of our challenges this year, I do hope that reading hasn't been one of them for you.

Tell us about your 2020 reading experience. Did you have trouble focusing or was it just about all you could accomplish? If you participated in our Reading Challenge, were you able to complete at least some of the prompts? Or were you able to complete it? Either way, I think anyone who was able to block out the world for a short time and read was wildly successful!

Barbra (nerd-ie-barbie-reads) | 19 comments I found 2020 to be a great year for reading! It was the year's one saving grace. I completed the library challenge. (I have the books tagged in my reading list.) I truly appreciated the diversity it added to my reading - I read some great books that I wouldn't have without the prompt.

I hope that I can maintain this level of reading into 2021!

Thank you!

That's wonderful, Barbra! I read a lot, too. Just not all toward the Reading Challenge, which I avoided for a good chunk of the year. I was finally able to complete the challenge, however, mainly due to the Library's digital library (yay for Libby and hoopla audiobooks!). I've just posted the Welcome! message for the 2021 challenge. I hope you will join us!

Sara Caauwe | 31 comments I had probably my best reading year as an adult. I completed the challenge (all books on my shelf labeled 2020 MLCL reading challenge). I only counted my in print books for this year to see if I could hit the century mark with those.
I am very much looking forward to the 2021 challenge because it definitely helps me read more broadly than I would on my own.

I am so glad to hear it was a good reading year for you, Sara! We needed a silver lining to the year and reading was mine, too. I also finally made my 2020 Challenge shelf, if anyone wants to see what I read.

Valerie | 10 comments I finished the challenge last week. The final prompt for me was the one about food, which I saved until last because I picked a book about Christmas food and feasts.
I had a bit of a reading slump this spring/summer, but overall I'm pleased with how the challenge played out for me. My goal this year was not to listen to any audiobooks for the challenge prompts (nothing wrong with that - I LOVE audiobooks - it was just a personal challenge for myself), and I was able to do that.
I have a list with all of my 2020 books titled "2020 MLCL Reading Challenge" if anyone would like to see what I read.

Virginia | 15 comments I finished my last two books in the final week of 2020. All my books are listed on my shelf labeled 2020 Reading Challenge.
