Welcome to the SA Book & Challenge Lovers 2021 Points Collector!
Are you the ultimate reader? Love to do reading challenges or just join in when you can? Either way, this is for you. The aim of this ‘challenge’ is to join in as much as you want during all our book related festivities in 2021 and gain points while participating.
How this works:
It is easy. For almost every action you take, whether it is reading the book of the month, host a challenge or reach a personal goal, you will be awarded points.
How can I get points?
Word of the Month
1. Finishing the Word of the Month, in the same month that it is active, will gain you 5 points.
2. Finishing the Word of the Month, after the month is over, will gain you 2 points.
3. If you read all the Word of the Month’s in a single quarter (Jan-March, April-June, July-Sept, Oct-Dec) you will get a bonus of 5 points.
4. In addition, if you complete nr 3 plus one quarterly challenge (in that same quarter) you get another 3 points.
Book of the Month
5. Finishing the Book of the Month, in the same month that it is active, will gain you 5 points.
6. Finishing the Book of the Month, after the month is over, will gain you 2 points.
7. If you read all the Book of the Month’s in a single quarter (Jan-March, April-June, July-Sept, Oct-Dec) you will get a bonus of 5 points.
8. In addition, if you complete 7 above plus one quarterly challenge (in that same quarter) you get another 3 points.
9. If you have read the Book of the Month prior to it being nominated and winning, you will get 2 points if you join in on the discussion (even just a sentence or two).
10. If you read one of our previous Book of the Months (located here) and join in on the discussion you get another 2 points.
Yearly Challenges
11. Completing a yearly challenge (A-Z challenges, Tv/Series challenge, Series and Bingo challenge) will gain you 15 points.
Quarterly Challenges
12. Completing a quarterly challenge (Series, Scavenger Hunt, Epic Reads and Mishmash Challenges) will gain you 12 points.
13. Completing a quarterly challenge (Series, Scavenger Hunt, Epic Reads and Mishmash Challenges), after the deadline, but still in 2021, will gain you 5 points.
14. If you complete 2 quarterly challenges you get another 5 points
15. If you complete 3 quarterly challenges you get another 8 points
16. If you complete all the quarterly challenges you get 10 points
Hosting a Challenge
17. Hosting a challenge (more details on how to do it here), will gain you 5 points.
Participation
18. Participating in a yearly, quarterly or hosted challenge will gain you 2 points. You get 2 points per challenge when you complete at least 1 task in the challenge.
19. Participating in a buddy read (located here) will gain you 5 points.
Personal Goals
20. Completing a personal goal will gain you 5 points. You can keep track of your personal goals in your own thread (located here) . A goal must at least be 10 books. Whether it is read 10 books on your TBR list, 10 new authors etc.
21. Setting up a personal thread with personal challenges will give you another 5 points.
Nominating
22. You get 1 point for nominating a book for your Book of the Month challenges.
23. You get 1 point for nominating a word for your Word of the Month challenges.
Short Story Challenge
24. For every 5 short stories your read for the Short Story Challenge, you gain 2 points.
What does the points mean?
For every 10-30 points you get, you will get a new title and a little graphic.

Elementary Reader – 20 Points
Novice Reader – 40 Points
Bookworm – 60 Points
Fluent Reader – 80 Points
The Dog-Earer – 100 Points
Expert Reader – 120 Points

The Speed Reader – 200 Points
Literary Snob – 220 Points
Master Reader – 240 Points

How do I join?
All you do is post below saying you want to participate. You can join in at any time during the year. Your name will then be listed in the second post, along with your current title.
How to submit points:
Once you have completed one of the point actions listed above, you can come in post in this thread, detailing your action. I will then update your points in the second post and your title if necessary. I will also post your new graphic for you in this thread (please note I can sometimes be a bit slow).
