It can be any game or sport - this is open to interpretation!

Here are some recommendations:

The Queen's Gambit - Walter Tevis
Ready Player One - Ernest Cline
Otherworld - Jason Segel
Warcross - Marie Lu
Furia - Yamile Saied Méndez

Ali (alithomas) | 11 comments My husband loves a novella called 'A Chess Story" or "The Royal Game" by Stefan Zweig that would be fun if you can find it, especially of you're into chess at the moment after a 'Queen's Gambit' binge. It would also work as a translation.

Nikki (mnnikki) | 164 comments I'm going with a different game here - baseball! Jackie Robinson: An Integrated Life by J Christopher Schutz

EDIT:
Change of plans. We just finished Greenglass House by Kate Milford and I'm using that for this prompt. There is a role playing game throughout the book.

Marie | 8 comments I will probably do The Queen's Gambit but I had also thought of Keeping Score (Linda Sue Park) or In The Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson (Bette Bao Lord) for baseball

Kelly (kellylevesque) Would The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager count as a game?

message 7: by Robynne (last edited Dec 28, 2020 12:16PM) (new)

Robynne Lozier I'm tossing up between Warcross (because I really liked Ready Player One) and Alex Trebek's biography (because I also love Jeopardy)

Mio (mio_tokiwa) | 8 comments I think I will be reading " Ready Player One" since my son really loves it and recommends it.

Kirsten 'The Inheritance Games' by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Lisa | 35 comments Finished Ready Player One for this prompt, and what a fun nostalgic read. 80's love all the way!

Amber | 22 comments Murder on Wheels by Lynn Cahoon. Completed 4 Feb 2021.

Bookshop owner Jill gets caught up in another murder investigation after a woman she meets, while geocaching on a double-date with her boyfriend, is murdered. I consider geocaching a game!

Ali (alithomas) | 11 comments I'm reading 'We Ride Upon Sticks' which is about a girls' field hockey team in 1980s Massachusetts and some witchy stuff they get themselves into.

I just finished reading this book, and it never even occurred to me to consider it a book about a game, but it totally is. I am trying to read a separate book for each prompt, and I used this book to check off the box for a book written by an author of color. I am definitely going to go change that. I was really struggling to find a book about a game, whereas there are tons of books by author's of color that I want to read.
