I've picked my first book! I am finally going to read The Count of Monte Cristo. Blue is on the cover. This should be a good-cozy-read by the fire-cold January so stay inside and read kind of book. What kind of tea goes best with this kind of tome?

Maybe earl grey?
I've never read The Count of Monte Cristo, but it's on my list of classics to tackle someday. It does sound like it would make for a very cozy winter read!

I'm curious as to how you do your challenge. Do you work your way down the list choosing books as you go? Do you choose books for the whole list first? Do you do each prompt individually or do you combine a few prompts into one book?
I am so excited for this challenge :) I think I am going to start with The Soul of an Octopus. I have had this one on my list for a while.

For me, I like to have a few options for each prompt so I can still give into my inner-mood reader. But also, if I realize that a book I read could fit a prompt, I'll count it, even if I'd had something else in mind.
You can combine as much as you want - there are several overlapping prompts. I try to limit myself to 3 combinations. But combine away!

I'm excited to leave 2020 behind (the reading challenge, which I completed less than half of, AND the year in general!) and get started with the new challenge. For the 2021 challenge my goal is to fill at least 3/4 of the prompts with books by BIPOC authors.
I joined GoodReads just for this! (Found Emily's challenge while doing homeschool research.) After the disaster that was my 2020 reading challenge, I am emboldened by a shot at redemption.
I just joined GoodReads for this also. 2020 was a disaster as far as meeting any of my goals. I'm thinking this challenge sounds like something I can achieve. I'm excited.
Oh if anyone is happy to share a list of YA books they have already compiled that would be amazing :-) , I’m terrible at choosing
I missed the 2020 BYL reading challenge - I was too busy doing UNO in the first months of 2020. I have just found Emily's 2021 BYL reading challenge video today - 10 days after it was posted to youtube - and have thoroughly enjoyed her recommendations.
Cannot wait to start reading on January 1st.
Hi Emily and everyone! I am so excited to start new year and join this challenge to broaden my reading landscape. I think Hygge is the great theme for 2021 for now I am starting to learn how to relax in the situation that is out of my control. I am looking forward to seeing what everyone will be reading for the challenge. Have a great day!
How do I enter the books I'm reading into this challenge? I have a spreadsheet for myself and am entering them into Goodreads too. I have a Goodreads bookshelf set up for this challenge but not sure how to have it show up in this group?
@ Amber - OK sorry. Forget what I wrote the first time. You dont post them here!! You can post your books for each prompt in the below section

There isn't a way to link my Goodreads BYLHygge bookshelf here? Two of the challenges I'm doing track that way. When I go to the list you put in your post, it is just people's suggestions for books. Does it all go in the same place?

I don't know if there is any automatic link. You have to add books to your shelves manually.
The link I gave is for both suggestions and also for what people are actually reading. At least I am pretty sure that is the situation. That is why there are threads for each prompt.
