4.5⭐ Insightful and eye-opening, a must read!

GERMANY The Sorrows of Young Werther - J.W. Goethe
3.5⭐ A detailed introspection on human feelings, a bit over the top sometimes. The prose is superb.

MAURITANIA Adventures in Africa - G. Celati
3⭐ A travel diary with funny anecdotes. Too fragmentary for my taste.
Setting: Mali, Senegal, Mauritania.

4⭐ Witty and funny. Wilde never deceives me.

KYRGYZSTAN The White Steamship - C. Aitmatov
4⭐ A simple and nostalgic rural tale. I was fascinated by the Kyrgyz world, its traditions and legends and its respect for nature.

RWANDA A Sunday at the Pool in Kigali - G. Courtemanche
2.5⭐ A painfully intense and gut-wrenching look into the Rwandan genocide.
Trigger warning: brutal rape scenes.

SAINT KITTS & NEVIS A Distant Shore - C. Phillips
3⭐ A fluid and nice read.
