I completed this fun challenge. I had planned to use Xanthe Westlake from The Garden of Promises and Lies for X, but while holding out for an audio edition, I inadvertently completed the challenge with X-Ray from Holes (Best in Show: Newbery). This title and its sequel Small Steps both have shovels on the cover, too, so they'll work as a tool/wrench for Give Us a Clue. Thanks for the fun!
