Works at dream job: Leaving Time
By blogger: Broken
Everyone has read but me: The Maze Runner

✓23. A book with something broken on the cover: This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp (finished 4/29)

15/40
13. A locked-room mystery: One of Us Is Lying
This had some twists and turns, but more importantly it had a romance (bad boy, good girl) and strangers-to-friends tropes that sucked me in

2/40
35. A book in a different format than what you normally read. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
While I love Harry Potter and Stephen Fry, I really struggled to get through a whole audiobook... I think I'll stick to written formats.

Can the books I've read prior to joining be considered in my total or do they need to be from this point on?
If I can include prior reads I'd like to do 12 books if it is from this point forward, can it be 7?
Thanks

I'm late to the game, but I'm a PopSugar addict! At some point I might branch out, but it's working so well for me that I hate to change what works! That said, I'm almost done!

12. A book you have seen on someone’s bookshelf (in real life, on a Zoom call, in a TV show, etc.) - A Prayer for Owen Meany

Just completed #43 (prettiest cover) - A Song Below Water by Bethany C. Morrow. Much in this novel was well-done: interesting world, good characters, and real-life truths displayed in a cunning way to drive home the point. However, it felt jumbled up, particularly at the beginning. I had a hard time grasping the story through the teen angst that distracted from the interesting things contained within the novel. Interesting and I’ll definitely get the next book. Worth reading! 3.5 stars

I'm SO close, but other books keep getting in the way!
A book set in multiple countries:
The Midnight Library
Matt Haig
3 stars (but I may drop to 2)
What could have been a nice beach read was tortured into A Book With A Message (that hits you over your head with a sledgehammer). It tried too hard. I’m giving it 3 stars based mostly on potential. It gets 2 stars for the ham-handed message.

Just completed prompt for locked room mystery - Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Wow, what a ride! For science and math nerds out there, this book is chock full of everything your heart could desire. For us space needs, it’s a thrilling adventure! There are some lovely asides about being human and being good too. Definitely recommend! 5 stars. Possibly not what PopSugar intended for this prompt but figuring out how to save humanity locked in a spaceship qualifies for me.
