I’ve so far turned 31,289 (I keep track myself) pages this year. Can I include that tally and plump for 37,000? Do I have to individually list all the books I’ve read so far? Or do I have to pick a new number for just 2 months? And, is message 1494 my starting point and where I fill in my books?

Yes, you can definitely include pages already read this year, but you do not have to list al the books. I only look at the total number of pages when I update the list. I'll put you down for 37000 next time I update :) Message #1494 is indeed your original message.
