Inherent Problem In The Plotline

If you have read this book, I have one question for you:

Why did Harry Dunne ever involve Nick Bryson? Why didn't he just leave him as a teacher oblivious to the Gregson Manning takeover?

If Harry Dunne was part of the takeover plot and the Directorate was part of the takeover plot, why was Bryson ever involved? If they had just left him teaching at that university, the information takeover would have succeeded. I just don't understand why Dunne every involved him in the first place.

The Directorate was as such not initially involved in the conspiracy. Ed Waller joined forces with the Prometheans later on. Ed Waller was also the only force within the Directorate conspiring with the Promtheans, which made him blow up the Directorate's headquarters in France.
