Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments How to Delete Multiple Books from Your Kindle ... QUICK & EASY!

I've spent SO many hours (sad!) trying to find a QUICK & EASY way to delete more than 200 books from my Kindle Paperwhite. "Yes, Amazon rep, I know how to delete one at a time ... too slllllloooooooowwwwwww! Yes, I know how to permanently (GASP!) delete multiple books using Amazon's 'manage your content and devices' page. Not interested, thanks."

After chatting with a guy that certainly sounded confident about how to delete books from my kindle only, while keeping the books in my kindle cloud (WRONG!), I ended up deleting them all permanently. *insert a chain of expletives here*

Deciding to try one more time, I once again ventured onto the Amazon help chat line and got gifted the brilliance that is Arlene. She deserves ALL THE GIFTS this Christmas because while actually troubleshooting WITH me on a test kindle Paperwhite, she accidentally (aren't those the best ways) found a way to do exactly what I want! She was also able to restore all the books I deleted because I listened to/trusted the first rep.

**** drumroll, please ****

STEPS TO REMOVE AS MANY BOOKS AS YOU WANT, AT ONCE
Please note these are steps for the Kindle Paperwhite. The books will remain in your Amazon cloud, ready for you to reload them should you wish.

1. Click on SETTINGS
2. Click on DEVICE OPTIONS
3. Click on ADVANCED OPTIONS
4. Click on STORAGE MANAGEMENT

TWO OPTIONS:
1. Manual Removal
a. Choose Books, Docs, Periodicals, Samples, or Others
b. Check the box next to the books/docs/etc you'd like to remove
c. Click REMOVE
BOOM! Gone!

2. Quick Archive
a. Choose 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year or more (you can see exactly how much space your archive choice will free up on your kindle)
b. Click REMOVE
BOOM! Gone!

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments I cannot tell you how happy I am with this new method for Kindle housekeeping! I am one who adds lots of books thinking I'll read them immediately, but don't. So, the 'quick archive' option probably won't be one I'll be using, at least not right now. I like knowing they're there whenever I wanna start them.

I'm going to use the 'manual removal' option to clean up my baby. It's got room for a lot more books, but I never remove a book after it's been read. Time to get those off'a there.

Hope this is helpful for others too! I can't be the only one that thinks the removal of books individually on the Kindle is a slow and tedious process.

Sandra | 25908 comments Glad you were the guinea pig for that one Steph. I'd be devastated if my books left my cloud! I don't know that I'd recover!
