SOLVED. Romantic Suspense series. Female operative has trouble background. She's tricked into going home, told her mother is sick.

I am currently re-reading a lot of the above genre. Plot that I can remember... she is coerced into returning home as she gets a call to say her mother is in hospital. This is a ploy by her father & his associates to get her to return... she goes alone but is followed ( I think ) by the rest of her team. I think it is in a similar vein as Riley Edwards/Maya Banks/J. M. Madden... but not 100%! Please help!!!

It would've been within the last three years.

I know that she is part of a team... I think her love interest is also part of the same team. I know for sure that she left home because her father was abusive... a drug dealer for sure. He also abused her mother. The only reason she returned home was because she had had a phone call to say that her mother was in hospital... this was a ploy to get her to return. The sheriff/deputy/local cop is a bad guy who wants the h. Somehow her team get involved - or at least some of them... and they are not happy that she tried to deal with this on her own. I know that it is part of a series. I thought it was a Maya Banks... but I was wrong! Thanks Kris! I hope this makes sense! Vicky
