Hi, I would like to know if Chercher Sam works for the head task... not obvious but it is really a picture of a head with a winter cap in the shadow... More obvious on the actual book
jaxnsmom wrote: "Sorry, but that won't qualify. If you hadn't said so, I couldn't have said that was a head :)"Ok, I'll use it for "takes place on an island" then, it's set in Montreal ;o) I just wanted to add some variety LOL
I hope that one can read more than one book for a single task...
I don't know if it has been answered and I missed it, if so, sorry for asking again...If not, here it is: Can I read more than one book for a task, or each task could be fulfilled only once by each reader?
You can read more than one book for a task, multiple teammates can read the same task, there are no limitations.
jaxnsmom wrote: "You can read more than one book for a task, multiple teammates can read the same task, there are no limitations."Great! Thanks| :)
Jmom, I think we may only have twelve people in our team instead of thirteen, as one hasn't posted at all since signing up for the Toppler, and her profile is private so I can't message her.
Ok so I know it's kind of last minute to ask this but I just wanted to clarify this being my first toppler and all. For the section of the toppler that covers the couple substitution eg. Bonnie and Clyde – Read a crime thriller
Is the focus on reading a crime thriller or specifically a crime thriller about a couple similar to Bonnie and Clyde?
just asking because I wouldn't want to pick a crime thriller to read only to find out it doesn't qualify because it lacks an applicable couple.
Lisa wrote: "You can read any crime thriller Danny. It doesn't have to be about a couple :)"Ok excellent. I don't have to change anything then. Thanks a ton. 3 hrs and counting to go!
:) Most of these tasks are as they seem. No hiding surprises. But always better to ask than to read something that doesn't count.3 hours?
ARGH! When did it get that late? I need to be up early to read!
Gail wrote: "Jmom, I think we may only have twelve people in our team instead of thirteen, as one hasn't posted at all since signing up for the Toppler, and her profile is private so I can't message her."That's ok. The teams don't always end up even.
J'mom, is it okay if the cover has a picture of the back of a head? One of my book is
A Small Indiscretion
J'mom, I realized I also have The Good Girl, which is probably more what you had in mind. I'll read that for the head instead.
"Reading a crime thriller" task. Does it have to be a crime? Or just a thriller. Or do you mean thriller with a crime in it? Like hacking or code breaking or stealing count?Sorry just thinking through an audiobook choice.
A thriller with a crime in it; hacking, espionage, stealing, code breaking, terrorism, all that sort of thing.
I have a question, how often do you guys do this? I sure am having a good time. It is interesting to see all the different books everyone's reading, and I am amazed at how quickly so you guys are ;-) good luck to all!
We have a Toppler every other month, and they alternate between a 24 hour one, and a week long one. The next one will be in April and will be 24 hours. The week long ones have become team ones, and are the most fun.
jaxnsmom wrote: "A thriller with a crime in it; hacking, espionage, stealing, code breaking, terrorism, all that sort of thing."I totally replied to this on my phone...
Thanks Jmom. I just wanted to check before I started an audiobook. Appreciate the answer to my stupid question.
Would this book count for: John and Lorena Bobbitt ( If you’re not familiar with this couple: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_and... ) - Read a book that takes place during a war and the war has a large impact on the characters.
The Marriage Risk (Midnight Sons, #2) by Debbie Macomber.
It does not actually take place during a war, but because of what happened to the parents and grandparents of the main characters during WWII, there still is a feud between the 2 families. And that has a huge impact on the characters and the story!
I'd say use it for a romance, or possibly chick lit.Qualification is during a war AND has a large impact.

Yes, that's why I doubted, since it does not actually take place during a war.
Thanks, Jaxnsmom, for your swift answer!
For Clubbing – Read a book from another participant’s tbr, how do you define "another participant?" Is it a member of your team, anyone on a Toppler Team, or any member of this group?
The war in the book does it have to be a real war or can it be a war that is going to happen in the future?
Theresa - It should be a participant in the Toppler, from any team.Berit - It doesn't have to be a real war, it can be fiction (like The Lord of the Rings books). But it has to be taking place in the book, not in the past or future.
I am reading The Body of Jonah Boyd but am struggling to find a fit i thought maybe humour - the blurb describes it as "hilarious and scorching
Or forbidden love - brokeback mountain - there is an affair or two

Forbidden love should work. Is this author new to you? If so, this will work for Reading in the Hobbies section.
Hi jmom. I want to read Mostly Harmless ( from the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy series) for the alien world task. From the goodreads description it seems the story is set on another planet and then traveling through space. Will that qualify the book?
Yes. Basically the idea was that the book not take place on earth. Alien planet and space is great :)
Hi J'Mom. I read Legacy of Masks, a series book, that deals with the Cherokee Bear legend. http://www.indians.org/welker/cherbea...Would this count as a legend book? The legend plays a big part of the story (including the title) but isn't the entire story. Ruling please! :)
Jaxnsmom, I thought I read somewhere that a mystery date had to have all the elements (head, eyes, torso, legs, shoes) to be a complete mystery date. Does that apply to the bonus mystery date as well, or may we make a mystery date using only 3 titles (head, torso, legs)?
Wondering here how many covers can/should we use? Same as in the What Does Your Date Look Like category? You say covers outside of Date's Looks can be used, but should they meet the requirements for that category or can we be more abstract?
Thanks and happy St. Valentine's Day, JaxMom
You can use as many covers as you want as possibilities for the five parts of your date. As in you can use the head from the original task, OR a cover with a head from another task. Make combinations in your team thread - or set up a new one - and then submit up to three.Covers from other tasks must still meet the requirements for the body parts/shoes.
