Is that what le Carre meant to say? "nothing but a thriller"? In a context, as quoted by Bill, where he, if understood that correctly, objects to books being put into genre-drawers that would be quite bizarre.

AB76 | 6965 comments While i am not a huge Le Carre fan, its a huge loss to the writing world as age had not diminished his talents and productivity, the great sadness is that no more new work from a titan of post-war writing
