Danuta builds robots that can build more of themselves. At first, this works out remarkably well, but little 'bugs' creep into the programming, generation after generation, and in the end (well, the middle, actually) the robots are railroad engineers on the Crazy Train. What happens when Danuta and her Jewish boyfriend find themselves transported to Nazi Germany in the 1930's 'for their own protection' by the descendants of the robots they created, who've also picked up unimaginable powers along with their insanity...
