superawesomekt | 238 comments Gabriella, an impressive finish! I thought I would have more reading time this week, so I will finish next week, but finishing this will be quite the accomplishment so I'm NOT giving up, even if I'm going to be late! Anyone else lagging behind with me?

It took me 13 days to read it! Don’t give up! We are waiting for you to join us in Feb!

Kathryn Watters | 12 comments I finally finished. While, I enjoyed it, I have to say that I feel he could have used a lot fewer words to tell the story. But I feel that way with a lot of classics.

Just wanted to comment that I quite enjoyed The Historian if you're looking for more :)

Bethea Scovic (bethea) | 30 comments I still have 75 pages to go. I'll finish it all in one more sit as it's getting pretty intense now.

superawesomekt | 238 comments I'm finally making good progress. I expect I'll finish today or tomorrow. (view spoiler)

superawesomekt | 238 comments FINISHED! You all weren't kidding about it picking up at the end. I wasn't bored before, but it was easy to finish the last 200 pages compared with the first 200. I doubt I would ever read this again, but I definitely enjoyed the last half.

Thanks again for joining me. I really needed this buddy read to motivate me!

Alexandra | 52 comments @superawesomekt Thank you for starting this buddy read, without which I wouldn't be able to finish at all! :) I ended up enjoying the book more than I thought I would.

I look forward to your starting Hardy's! :)

I'm so glad you joined and YES! I'm ready to go for our next buddy read and I know Thomas Hardy won't disappoint us :)

Bethea Scovic (bethea) | 30 comments I finished!! I enjoyed it, but I didn't love it as much as I thought I would. I remember loving it in high school, but that was 18 years ago and I read a lot of Shakespeare back then, so it was probably a faster read. I remember it being more of a love story, which it really wasn't. Thank you for the buddy read! it's been on my TBR list for at least the last 5 years. lol

Bethea Scovic (bethea) | 30 comments High school was 28 years ago, not 18. It really has been a long time!
