Alicia | 125 comments For a Deadly Education, the author is a Taurus and I'm sure you've seen it on someone's Goodreads bookshelf. Then for past PopSugar prompt you can do any past one dealing with magic or fantasy or last year's book published in 2020.

For a Viscount Who Loved Me, all the Bridgerton books have family trees at the end. For past PopSugar, you can do anything with romance or in 2015 there was one about book turned into a TV Show.

Thanks Alicia. There wasn't a family tree in The Duke and I so I wasn't expecting one in the second book. (Not my library's version any way!) Finger's crossed it has one because I'm really struggling with that prompt.

Kara Would "Motherless Daughters" by Hope Edelman count as a book with an oxymoron in the title?

message 355: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 125 comments Kara, I would definitely count that as an oxymoron.

Hard to say since I haven't read it. Maybe it's set in a place you'd like to visit, or it involves a job you have or would like?

message 358: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 263 comments I can't be the only person here reading Malibu Rising - any one using it for anything besides published in 2021?

I'm considering the set in a restaurant because so much of it centers around the restaurant, but a lot of the book takes place outside the restaurant too, so I'm not sure it counts. My only other back up plan was Prettiest Cover. Thoughts?

I read it because I loved the cover, so "prettiest cover" sounds good!!

Also, a lot of the book takes place outdoors (maybe not a majority of the book though).

Main characters are: professional surfer, model, international surf photographer, restaurant owner/manager, and rock star. Any dream jobs there?

Maybe you'd like to visit Malibu?

There are three generations: the Riva kids, their parents June & Mick, and June's parents.

Ha - thanks! I hadn’t even thought of all those, but mostly because I think I’ve covered all those prompts. I think it will end up going in the prettiest cover, because it really is the prettiest cover to a book I’ve read this year. Great book.

LOL I pre-ordered that, so I own the e-book now and it is JUDGING ME as I read all my other library books. I haven't read it yet so I don't have any ideas.

Vanessa (vase_of_afternoons) | 44 comments Amanda wrote: "I want to read Mexican Gothic. Anywhere this could fit?"

I think it's a genre hybrid as well: historical fiction/horror, historical fantasy.

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 144 comments Hello! I need some help with placing Lirael into my challenge.

Here is the link to my tracking. All the ones ticked I've obviously already read the book for!

Lirael (Abhorsen, #2) by Garth Nix This is the cover my library has, which unfortunately doesn't have the diamond that some versions have! Garth Nix also does not share a zodiac with me.

I don't know if this series would be considered 'dark academia'? That prompt confuses me a little.

message 365: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1256 comments @Ashleigh
I love this series but it has been a while since I read it last.

This fits #7 dream job if you want to be a librarian.
I don't know how closely you want things to fit but you could stretch it for #9 family tree. It doesn't have an actual family tree in the book but genealogy is quite important to the overall story.
#19 body positivity could also be stretched because Lirael spends a lot of time not fitting in because of her looks and she grows to accept herself.

message 366: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 144 comments Thank you! Hmmm... I've always had a desire to be a librarian though I'm not sure I'd class it as my 'dream job' but it might have to do! I've stretched a few prompts already so no harm in doing more.

message 367: by Kara (new)

Kara Hi! I need help fitting "My Year of Rest and Relaxation" by Ottessa Moshfegh into the a prompt. I was thinking it could fit into the prompt "a book about forgetting." What do you think? Thanks!

message 368: by Kara (new)

Kara @Alicia- thank you!!

Janette (janettes07) | 42 comments Just finished reading Notes on Grief and struggling to fit into a prompt. Suggestions?

message 370: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 125 comments Janette, I haven’t read it but is it the shortest book on your TBR? Also I noticed it has less than 1,000 reviews on Goodreads. I’ve found that to be a tough to fill prompt.

message 371: by Shannon (new)

Shannon | 51 comments It was published in 2021! It might be a stretch, but what about a book set in multiple countries?

message 380: by poshpenny (new)

poshpenny | 1916 comments Which Dark Matter?

message 381: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 125 comments For Dark Matter, you can put it under do-overs or song title.

message 382: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 125 comments Oh I was talking about the Blake Crouch Dark Matter for do-overs

message 383: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1256 comments It fits the do-over prompt the best.

message 384: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1256 comments Blake Crouch Dark Matter too. I'm sure there's a cover option that's black and white. I can't remember the mc's job right now. His wife is an artist.

message 385: by Ariel (new)

Ariel | 126 comments I’m a bit stuck on where to put Every Day by David Levithan.

I’ve seen it referred to as magical realism so it could go in that prompt. But it seems to be referred to more often as straight-up fantasy. In which case, could it count as a genre hybrid?
Which of the two prompts does it fit best?

message 386: by Meagan (new)

Meagan | 44 comments You could use it for the prompt about forgetting. The character A forgot the lives they lived up until they meet certain character.

I just looked it up on iTunes, and there is a song called "Hyperion" by a band called Kal-El. Also, I think the paperback came out in 1990 - check the best seller lists for 1990, perhaps it was a bestseller in the 90s. It's one of those books that is always recommended, so maybe everybody has read it but you (and but me! it's on my TBR lol), or maybe your best friend would like it. And check Simmon's astrology sign?

It's been awhile since I read this so I can't remember the character names right now.
A Book about forgetting: The mc spends her time trying to forget that she loves him.
Dream job: Doctor or a writer?
Subject your passionate about: Reading
Fresh start: The two mcs get to know each other as adults.
The tbr prompts may work too.

I'm pretty sure there's three generations in Little Men. Amy doesn't feature much if I remember correctly, but she was an artist.

message 396: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 125 comments The Woman in Cabin 10 would be considered a locked room mystery (all stuck on the ship, no where else to go)

Hmmm I think if the caves etc. are natural I might count it, but not if they are made intentionally.

LOL I know you asked this in the other post - but you're right, you might get more traction here. :-)

For me, a "family tree" is the actual diagram. If you look up the definition of "family tree" and you'll find " a family tree is a chart ...". I found a book that had an actual family tree. (I read The Cousins.)

But I know A LOT of Challenge readers have chosen books that just describe family relations without providing a chart. So, it's up to you.
