Also, I'm guessing all words and definitions need to be in English and not sound like a word in another language?

This homonym stuff is a bit complicated, especially for those whom English is not the primary language 😄

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.

You will need to identify the word in the title and then provide two different definitions like you did above - that will be enough.

For Homonym - can a person's name in the title be used for one of the definitions? Eg Bill? (Bill and Ted's excellent adventure type titles :)
Bill - a person's name
Bill - invoice/charge ..."
Proper nouns can be homonyms - Greece and grease being an easy example.

Homonyms need to be words, not abbreviations.
Yes, the homonyms need to be used in English language.

Hopefully not too hard! 🤞🏼

I get that! If in doubt, PM Kat ;)

Where a book has been significantly expanded and revised, can we use the first Kindle edition of the revised book as per the GR page? (The book I'm looking at doesn't even show the original edition on the book's GR pages - just that one was published earlier)

Book was published first in 2007 but the first Kindle edition that specifies a date AND page count is from 2020!
There are paperback editions and an ebook edition that specify a date & page count from earlier - but not a Kindle.
Do I still use the Kindle despite publication being 13 years later?

I don't think that has been specifically addressed, but I have accepted the expanded page count as long as something referencing that is listed in the precis or on the main book page. 'Updated' will not be enough - that could mean that they progressed from a flip phone to a smart phone, stopped smoking or started using condoms. 😂

Short answer is yes. This is what I have posted about that:
❤️Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only!❤️ If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book.

Oops, almost missed this one. Yes, contractions can be homonyms according to the definition we are using for this task.

I'm hoping next week takes mercy on me (and all of us), but I'm not holding my breath...

I hear you!

H is for Hefty - Read a book over 300 pages, first edition Kindle page count.
To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be 300 pages or over, first edition Kindle page count.
I know it is worded oddly, but 300 and over will work.

Date 4 - H
H is for Habanero - Read a book tagged as 'hot' or 'steamy'.
To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be tagged as 'hot' or 'steamy', alone or combined. Variations of those words will be allowed in context, i.e. 'no steam' will not work. The qualification for this task comes from tags/shelves ONLY. The tag does not have to be MPG, but the book must be tagged at least once to qualify. Please include a link to the top shelves page of your book's qualifying tag (not to the people who have used that tag or to the shelf for the tag!), the number of tags and the top shelves page number in your completion post. This information helps if the link is broken or if the tag moves as they frequently do..
Remember books must be 90 pages (first edition English language Kindle) and MPG Romance!!
You have until Friday, January 15 @ Midnight US EDT to post your completion(s).
Please ensure that your completion post conforms to message #3 of your team thread. If you complete more than one book for the date task, be sure to include that information in your completion post. Remember no discussion in your completion posts!

a. the person
b. the game piece in chess"
No, the chess piece (or playing card) is more a representation of the ruler. They aren't really a distinct definitions.

Or does it have to me 1 word either hot or steam

That works. 😊

In context, rivals are often enemies but not always. You can be rivals with good friends too. I've had friendly rivalries with lots of friends over the years.

Eg Tomato / tomato etc... (I'm not suggesting that tomato is a homonym 😂)

I suck at knowing what the diacritics and phonetic spellings really mean! (Seriously other than the long line over vowels, I'm clueless!) I would need much more than that to know the pronunciation from other dialects. I think it is safer to stick with the US pronunciations.

No, it needs to be 'hot' or 'steamy', alone or in combined. Variations of the words will be allowed in context.

The dictionary spells them for you - same spelling for each option... I'll PM you a link...

Bill - a person's name
Bill - invoice/charge for payment
Bill - bird's beak
(ok - in this instance it works for the second two options, but for Grace/Grace etc...)
