I remember reading this book series as a kid and it was about a boy who had staring contests with other schools, or people and he could also possibly travel through time. In one of the books there is a chapter I distinctly remember because the shower overflows. I think he lived in a monastery and trained to win staring contests.

Do you remember why the boy lived in a monastery? Was he training to be a monk? Were there other kids there?
