Strange the Dreamer Group Read | January 2021
I literally know nothing about it except I’ve seen some fanart with people who have blue skin I think... 😂
ah yay! I was wondering how to work this all out and was coming here to see if I could do something here; you beat me to it! lolI've started this book a couple times but had to put it down for various reasons, but I am DETERMINED to finish it next month! the book's basically about Lazlo Strange who is a... historian? of sorts and researches about the lost city of Weep, a place that completely disappeared from everyone's mind. Weep isn't even the city's real name, but that's what everyone remembers it as. Anyway a caravan from this mysterious city comes and Lazlo joins them and he's able to go to the city.
that's the main summary on the back of the book, but that really only covers the first part. the rest of the book is a whole mystery and while I did get further into the second part, I didn't get much further, and it's been a while since I last read it.
I'm so excited to pick this up again and I think buddy reading it with all of you will definitely motivate me to finish it this go around :)
I have owned this book for quite a while now and so I can not really remember what this book is about. But I am keeping it that way and am going into this blindly (so if I see someone describing the book I am gonna skip it haha)I would love to know where everyone is from. I am from the Nederlands :)
never read anything by Laini Taylor, but I've always been interested! I'll be going into Strange the Dreamer very blind :)
i don't know anything about it either, but it's on my radar. i'll probably join in on the group read. :)
I'm so happy this has taken off! can't wait to read this book and share allllllllll the thoughts with everyone!! (I'm from Ohio, USA)
This is perfect!!! It's the only book I own with "dream" in the title so it's like it's screaming at me that I need to finally read it. I even got the beautiful UK covers and they've just sat on my shelf for so long...oops! Excited to read it!!
Don’t know much about this book, but I know the writing is very flowery. I’m joining too from Romania 🙂
I'm glad so many people are interested in this!
UPDATE: Tentative Group Read Plan
The book is about 430 to 544 pages (depending on what edition you have) soo I will post a new discussion thread with relevant questions for each section per day from Jan 1st - 6th (making that about 70-90ish pages per day, and leaving the 7th to catch up/keep discussing overall thoughts).
Sound like a challenge?
Hopefully this helps with keeping the discussion going between friends in all the different time zones (:
I'll mark the chapters that the thread corresponds to in the title that way you can avoid any spoilers!
If anyone has any other ideas, thinks it would be better to just keep the discussion all in this same thread, or wants to do any other activities (ie, polls, IG lives, etc), feel free to comment here or send me a DM.

I'll definitely join in! When posting the page breakdown, can it be done by chapter? I have the eBook and Audiobook, so think it would be easier to have a chapter to finish on rather than a page number!

Can the seperation be also in chapters? Because I have the ebook format, so I'm not sure if pages will work for my edition.

Will all the threads be here? Like the chapter discussions? Or where will they be? This my 1st time doing a read along, so im still learning!
@abby Stay tuned for a discord channel link posted here later this week! That’s where the daily discussions will be.
(if anyone is having trouble getting discord working after I post the link, just message me.
I can always post identical threads here in the goodreads group for daily discussions as well)
(:

There was some interest in buddy reading Strange the Dreamer in the first week of January, so here's a thread to join & plan that out!
What do I know about this book? not much:
