christina ♥ (omqchristi) | 130 comments Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4) by J.K. Rowling

for "fire", i'll have to recommend Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. although we don't support the author, it is still a great story.

Airhead (Airhead, #1) by Meg Cabot Being Nikki (Airhead, #2) by Meg Cabot Runaway (Airhead, #3) by Meg Cabot

a series for "air" i would recommend is The Airhead Series. i have a bit of nostalgia associated with this series, so it may be worse than i remember, but it's a averagely normal read (not too controversial, but not perfect).

Layoverland by Gabby Noone

as for "earth," i chose the word land, or the book, Layoverland. It's a cute, magical realism romance about what happens after you die.

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2) by Sarah J. Maas

for "water," i've chosen A Court of Mist and Fury. it's the second book of the ACOTAR series, and is a really good fantasy romance.

message 22: by ELLE (new)

ELLE | 7 comments Some of the best books I read in 2020 could fit this buzzword:
- for YA Contemporary With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo it's just excellent! Highly highly recommend the audiobook.
- for a very interesting take on a Mystery/Thriller Long Bright River by Liz Moore
- for YA Fantasy series The Folk of the Air Series 3 Books Collection Set By Holly Black ( The Cruel Prince, The Wicked King, Hardback-The Queen of Nothing ) by Holly Black (why didn't I read this before??)

message 23: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Collins | 2 comments Highly recommend Salt by Mark kurlansky. Who knew history of salt could be interesting.

Moon of the Crusted SNOW by Waubgeshig

the night Ocean by Paul La Target

the Devil in Silver by Victor LaValle (not technically in category but silver is literally an element).

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) | 11 comments For the October "element" buzzword, I'll be reading...

The Haunting of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie The Awakening of Sunshine Girl (The Haunting of Sunshine Girl, #2) by Paige McKenzie The Sacrifice of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie
The Haunting of Sunshine Girl, The Awakening of Sunshine Girl, and The Sacrifice of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie

Sunshine is an outdoor element related to air and fire. It shines through the air, lighting up the sky, and it comes from a burning star. 🌞

message 37: by michelle-belle (last edited Oct 03, 2021 03:15PM) (new)

michelle-belle (chelly_) | 34 comments I'm compiling some options for myself!
I really want to read the first two books mentioned on this thread, Dreams from Many Rivers A Hispanic History of the United States Told in Poems by Margarita Engle and Like Water by Rebecca Podos . I don't have access to them on Libby (or Open Water, which is another) but maybe somehow I'll get to them!?

From my own personal TBR:
Eartheater by Dolores Reyes
Absolute Trust in the Goodness of the Earth New Poems by Alice Walker
Turtle Under Ice by Juleah del Rosario

A lot of these seem to be very short books so hoping to get to multiple
:)

message 42: by Amber (new)

Amber (ambrjet) would anyone consider Morning Star as counting for elements? i was thinking because a star is a big ball of gaseous elements

message 43: by Amber (new)

Amber (ambrjet) I mean, I'll probably count it anyway, but just wondering what others thought. I will probably also read either Freshwater and/or The Fireman

message 44: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina (foxyfox28) | 2 comments Hey everyone! I'm super busy with school but haven't missed a buzzword yet! What do you recommend for a really short book that fits this prompt? Graphic novels welcome :) TIA
