Looking for a book to fit a certain criteria? Need a good recommendation? Read the best book and need to talk about it? Feel free to discuss here!

Sherri Harris | 1502 comments I need help. I'm working on Winter Wonderland. I need an e to complete the challenge. I really want to use an author to fit the criteria of Black History Month. I had two e's left & used Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. I need to be careful on my last pick. I'm hurting from Freshwater. I don't think I can read Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison yet.

Kelly Sj | 483 comments I am using a collection of Essays for an E. And there's a collection called The Fire Next Time (I think the editor was Jesmyn Ward) that would fit for you, among several other possibilities.

Oh I love the idea of essays! I'm reading All Boys Aren't Blue, which has been a really good read. You could also go with We're Going to Need More Wine or The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.

You could also go with The Poet X, With the Fire on High, or Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo.

Sherri Harris | 1502 comments Thank you both. I hadn’t thought of either.

There is also Esi Edugyan, author of Washington Black

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 3646 comments Girl, Woman, Other by Bernadine Evaristo is a much more positive, joyous book about women, race and color. It fits many categories in the broader game. She's won a couple big awards too.

viemag | 180 comments I had a difficult time and didn't complete the challenge. I thought this would be an easy challenge but finding titles, genres, and authors that fit the letters of the phrase was much harder then I thought it would be. But it was an enjoyable challenge.

I made it through 2 and a half of the 3. It was difficult to find enough books with E, G, and N (even with using English Lit for E and Novel for N.)

message 10: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2123 comments I finished it just in time! I struggled with the E's until I realized essay collections counted.

I did okay with Es (helped by the fact that one of my favourite cozy authors is Ellery Adams). It was Ns I struggled with, until I thought of Emma Newman, who wrote the Planetfall SF series.

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) I also struggled but still, it was fun. I found that to fill the last two or three letters in each phrase, I would have had to really deviate from the books I wanted to read and I wasn't in the mood for that. Oh well, looking forward to the next challenge. 😁
