Was this overrated? Should I read it? Is John Green's writing really pretentious?

Eva B. Never seen the movie, read the book years ago. I'll probably try it again at some point. I've read two John Green books (Looking For Alaska and An Abundance of Katherines) and didn't love either of them. Felt pretty lukewarm-leaning-negative towards LFA and really enjoyed AAoK but it's been two or three years since I read that one and so I don't remember much.
I didn't cry during this one though, but tbh I don't cry while reading, like, ever.

I just finished reading this. It was just okay. Very addictive, but also very pretentious.
