In the late 1970 or early to mid 1980s, I read a series of books about a crime solving lawyer named Anthony or Antony, this may be his first or last name, I can't recall, that took place in England. They were set in the years they were written.

I can't remember if the author was male or female, though I think they may have been male.

I know this is a bit of a long shot, but y'all have come through for me before. :D

I will have to see if I can find any of the books, but the time period is right, name is familiar and the authors name would fit with my memory of where the books were located in our tiny library.

Yes it was the Anthony Maitland series. I recognize a couple of the later book covers. I have started colecting and reading them.
