Oh, I can see that! I'm listening to the audiobook so it pushes me along. Russian politics, thievery, a surprise dip in the canal, it's a little all over the place at first.

Philina | 342 comments A little all over the place is a perfect description, Heather!

I am also finding it hard to get into at first. It is apparently the 3rd in a short series so maybe that accounts for it. The detectives make references to things that we the reader are not privy to but may have been if we had read the first 2. As far as I know, this is the only book in the series that has been reprinted.

of a classic Christmas mystery, but I
have to say, it isn't going very well.

Jess | 787 comments Sorry, dear ladies. I too have succumbed to the DNF Bug on this novel. I gave it a go and read a chapter. My interest waned and I came here to see your thoughts. It's a catching bug it seems with this one.

In all seriousness, I agree for all of the above reasons. And I have the utmost reader respect for the ladies who did finish it and gave us their reviews. Thank you- Heather and Philina! Well done, ladies!
