I had a TBR planned this month, but I managed to finish one of the books in November leaving room for this one! I don't know when I'm starting yet, but I'll tell you when I do!

how's it going? I am nervous to start the book. Haha. there are so many mixed reviews about this book. I feel like you are either gonna hate it or love it.

We have got a whole month! So, no pressure. :)

Thanks for your words of support. I read the first chapter last night, and thought it was a captivating enough start. Not convinced about the names though. It seems to have an ancient Rome feel, and some of the names sound latin, but some don't. Not a big thing overall, but a little jarring to me as a Latin student.

I read till the second chapter. And to say that there is a lot of world-building would be an understatement. 😂 There is so much, that I couldn't grasp what was happening for the first few pages..but I will admit that it's pretty fast-paced. The names are not an issue for me though. They are familiar enough!
(Has anyone come across Elias? And then thought of the Elias from an Ember in the Ashes?)

(Chapter 3 I think😅)
(I was shocked to find out that Petros is Madoc's father!!)

So excited to start! I heard this was a cross between Avatar: The Last Airbender (My favourite of all time!) and The Gladiator and I was immediately intrigued!

okayy, so i've read to about chapter three so far, and i'm definitely feeling the atla vibe. the concept is pretty interesting, but the overall worldbuilding is just average.
katie wrote: "okayy, so i've read to about chapter three so far, and i'm definitely feeling the atla vibe. the concept is pretty interesting, but the overall worldbuilding is just average."Oohhh! Yay. I'm glad there are actual ATLA Vibes. Despite the overall average worldbuilding, what do you think of it so far?
I just reached Chapter 4 and Elias is funny! I saw the whole Petros/Madoc thing coming though. Anyone else suspect it too?

I agree. Good thing is that it's fast-paced.

Chapter 3
You mean the part where petros was his father or the part where he barges in and demands madoc to demonstrate you know what.

Ahh I have read the first 10 chapters and I am quite impressed! The fighting was super exciting haha, it's been a long time since I read books like that... but the world was super confusing at first, I'm still trying to remember everyone's names!

I know I'm late, but I just finished chapter 6.
Ash made me laugh so hard with that last move.
I know I shouldn't find it funny, but I do. XDDD

Uh I literally don't think I can physically read this. The text on the first page went something like this:"SWEAT DRIPPED INTO Madoc’s eyes, soaking the frayed neck of his grime-streaked tunic and burning an open wound of his jaw."
"--preparing for his opponent’s next strike"
"The night air reeked of wet earth, dead fish, and bloodâ€" the perfume of South Gate, the seediest fishing port in Crixon, Demios’s capital city."
And none of those were typos. I'm so sorry, but I don't think I could read 432 pages of that xD
Hunh... What edition are you reading? I have the physical copy, and it's just normal text on mine...
I have a copy that Cherelle sent to me. Maybe the convert to a .mobi screwed it up?I just checked the email that Cherelle sent me with the PDF, and the PDF's fine. Maybe I'll try converting it again.
Just attempted converting it again and it didn't work.
Hmm... Well do you know if your library has a copy? Or something? I dunno... this is odd.
Sunny wrote: "Hmm... Well do you know if your library has a copy? Or something? I dunno... this is odd."I checked the library and they do not. Thank you so much for all your advice, but I'll probably just wait and read the book next month.
Alright, hope you do enjoy it when/if you get to reading it!
Just started this. made it to chapter 1 before I couldn't stay awake anymore (no fault of the books)
