Interactive Tasks - Help & Discussion

Thanks, Peggy, for the help.

Thanks a lot, Kristie. I tried and it worked.

Is there any thread for posting the Interactive Tasks or is it alright if I post the Interactive tasks in my own thread ?
How do I get to know that the image chosen by me and the task created for that image are valid? If any mistakes are made by me, how that would be pointed out for correction.
Thanks.

Please post your questions about interactive tasks in this thread.

Interactive tasks are no different than any other task other than you are picking a collection item and writing your own task. Only ask for a ruling if you are not sure your task will be accepted. That would be a case where your connection to the picture you've picked is not obvious.
For example, if you have a picture of a man sitting in a chair petting his dog, and you write a task that a dog should be on the cover, that is perfectly obvious. If you take the same picture and write a task that the book should be set in Mexico, that would not be obvious and would need a ruling. You'd have to do some explaining.
Any image of a collection item belonging to a museum is allowable.
When you report that you've read an interactive task, part of your report will explain the connection between your task and the picture. As long as I can understand your reasoning, it will be fine.

Viji, you can post your tasks in your own thread, but if you have questions or want someone to check on them this is the place to post them and ask. If you post the questions in your personal thread they may be missed and not answered.
The picture and task you posted for museum one worked perfectly. I think you may be overthinking this a bit and worrying too much. I can do that on occasion too.
Another suggestion may be to check out a few tasks that other people have created... maybe look at the tasks we all created for Janice. That will give you an idea of how it works and what everyone else is coming up with for comparison. Then, you may feel more comfortable with what you are doing too. You are welcome to use some of the same pictures if you like, just don't copy any of the tasks. Janice's list of tasks (created by group members) starts here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I know I've said this elsewhere, but I'll repeat it just to clarify.
It is not necessary to make sure that your task is unique. If you borrow an image from someone else, just make sure you write a different task that the person you borrowed it from.

Ut oh, Dom and I made pictures of our 4 interactive tasks but didn’t keep the links to where we found them. I thought if you do the picture the link was not needed. Is this incorrect thinking?

Taking one for the team so you all know that you can say no to her. She's not the boss of you! Well... for these tasks anyway lol

I did the same, Jannene, and I know Peggy added the pictures to Janice's tasks too. In the original challenge post Janice wrote, "You will need to include a picture or link to the item, and explain how your task is associated with the picture," so I think that will be fine. I thought the links were added as an option because not everyone knows how to add a picture.

Exactly. Not everyone has a site that will host pictures like Imgur and Photobucket, so added the link as an option.
If people post pictures, they don't need the link.

Whew!

I want to share this picture:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...
Could I use any of the following tasks work for it ?
1. Book with the word 'glass' in title
2. Book with a glass object on cover
I do not know if any one else has used the above tasks. I want to be sure before I post this in my thread.
Thanks.

The tasks you made fit very well with the picture. Just pick one that you are going to use and post that in your own thread.

Thanks, Peggy.

Is this a depiction of the nativity scene? When you do your interactive tasks you need to explain how you get from point A to point B. The picture could be a depiction of the nativity scene, or it could be that it makes you think of it as such.
You are on the right track though.

I found two photographs for this museum:
https://zeitzmocaa.museum/wp-content/...
Could this be used?
The second one is -
Vatican Mask – Cyrus Kabiru
https://zeitzmocaa.museum/art/c-stunn...
If this could be used, could I frame the task as
- Read a book set in Vatican - at least 50% of it ?
Thanks.

I picked one of his masks for my challenge too. They look awesome!

Was not sure if it is acceptable as an exhibit.
The second one is referred as Vatican Mask - in paranthesis. Wondered the task if had in mind would fit this.
Mainly because I did not find them in Wikipedia pages and was not sure if they are authentic exhibits of the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in Cape Town.
Thanks.

Thanks.

*thumbs up*

Yes. But I was not sure if this clearly expresses my description.

Sometimes you need to decide for yourself. That's what the interactive tasks are all about. As long as the logic behind how you determined what the task would be related to the item, you are fine. You can use any part of the item, including the title or the artist.

Thanks, Janice. Kristie helped me to rephrase my task description and helped me to express what I wanted to convey.
This is a great group and very helpful.

The General rules state:
If reading a book in a language other than English, the word must be a direct translation.
I am not able to understand if it means reading a book in a language other than English is allowed or only a direct translation of the book into English could be read.
Need help on this before I phrase my task. Thanks.

Yes, you may read a book in any language. That ruling is for when a specific word is required in a title.

Thanks a lot, Janice.

I found the following painting by Rembrandt captioned as - Rembrandt, Heroine from the Old Testament, 1632–33
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationa...
But the file states the caption as - Rembrandt - A young woman at her toilet.
Would the task - Read a book set in Prehistory up to Birth of Christ
be acceptable for this task? As there are two different captions for this painting, I thought of checking before picking a book. If not, I could change my task or choice of the exhibit.
Thanks.
