Questions about only initials names

I know we can add periods to one name author names with spaces for new profiles.
For names which are only initials I have now seen different ways of doing that and I would love to have an official ruling on that to get things correct.

I've seem A.B.^. when A.B. was taken but also A.B^.
So what's the official thought of where to put the spaces?

Peronally I'd prefer the first version because for me - as GR recquires initials to have periods - that first period belongs to the name and if GR would've chosen another symbol like e.g. * as separtor the period would still be with the letter.
(and it does on normal names with initials always)

If an author uses initials in their name, the initials should contain NO spacing between them and be marked with a period. No spaces within the letters of a name.

Correct example:
J.D. Robb

Incorrect examples:
JD Robb
J D Robb
J. D. Robb
J D R o b b

I do know that (I'm fixing them for ages now) but there are names without a second name and only initials - some GR authors some not and often more than one.
And a while ago the rules were broadend for those that we could use . and additional spaces to disambiguate them further.

But while working on these initials I have seen both of the examples I mentioned in the first post on GR and non GR authors.

So wanted to get a verdict on that before I'm reporting some to staff (GR authors) that don't need to and leave out some that would need - and as I'm planning to continue working on initials it's really useful to know how that was actually meant to be.

It's just a tiny word - can happen ;)

I agree with your first option, the initials as they should be listed and then the extra part to disambiguate.
