SOLVED. Star Trek: The Original Series paperback from 1980s. Enterprise finds large ship, powered by Bussard ramjet, with wreck of Klingon ship attached to its hull. [s]

Trying to track down title of a 1980s Star Trek: The Original Series paperback that starts out with the Enterprise discovering a large ship powered by a Bussard ramjet engine and has the wreck of an old Klingon ship attached to its hull. Inhabitants of ship are plant-based "robots" directed by a central plant-based intelligence/computer/brain.

Only other thing I remember is that Scotty gets trapped on the wrecked Klingon ship with a Klingon and they both get drunk.

Not sure about the rest but World Without End has Scotty getting drunk with a Klingon.

This sounds like the book. Not sure why it wasn't coming up in my earlier searches. (Maybe the 1979 part.)
