Brandy, I added some details to the header/topic title at the top of the page, so your book might be recognized from that description alone. Many members only read the headers.
You can update it by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, click the "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

I'm not sure, I've looked at that one before and there seems to be a lot of focus on a Jewish background, which I don't recall, but I'm going to get a copy and see. Thank you!

The storyline was the interaction between different mothers. A wealthy, elite woman was unable to have children and a poor girl (possibly a college student) was selected to be a surrogate (child conceived the old-fashioned way). The book centers on the relationship between these two women. I remember it being somewhat depressing and dark and disturbing.
Some side details I recall, there was the death of a child toward the end in a sledding accident. The child slid into the street and was struck by a car. Also, there was a routine event that a young girl joined maybe her father (?) each Sunday (?) for tea or dessert at what I think was a famous New York landmark. Maybe the Waldorf or the Chrysler Building.
Sorry, I know this is incredibly vague, but it's bothered my mind for years. I would like to put the ghost to bed! Thanks for all help.
