The story of a mentally disabled man whose experimental quest for intelligence mirrors that of Algernon, an extraordinary lab mouse. In diary entries, Charlie tells how a brain operation increases his IQ and changes his life. As the experimental procedure takes effect, Charlie's intelligence expands until it surpasses that of the doctors who engineered his metamorphosis. The experiment seems to be a scientific breakthrough of paramount importance until Algernon begins his sudden, unexpected deterioration. Will the same happen to Charlie?

This showed how cruel people can be to each others, specially if someone is a bit different than she/he self... It was so awful to read what Charlie has gone through in his past :/ And how sad and awful the ending was :( Charlie understood what was happening to him and he was loosing his brains and the woman he loved. It was so sad :( I have to read something really light and funny after this :'( (hide spoiler)]

I think the thing I hated most, even more than the regression, was that all that time he thought that those people were his friends. I love that he included Algernon in his papers. That was so sweet and I think he knew they were the only two that could understand. (hide spoiler)]
