In September, I had an exhibit of my art work in the new town I live in, in France. The mayor and local mucky-mucks came. A journalist came two times and interviewed me and gave me two positive write-ups, even though he normally trashes everything he reviews. All in all, a proud accomplishment!
October 12th, 2005 is the last day I had an adult beverage. Six years have gone by, with no relapses, no regrets. Enjoying the way I feel and look today.

I would just be happy to have enough time to produce work, much less be able to show it.
Happy Anniversary Lee, I hope you can celebrate it for many years to come!

Thanks Amber & Cynthia! And congrats Lee. The best part is having no regrets and enjoying the everyday of every day.
Thanks...J,J,J,B & J....we have a lot of "J"s on here! :)Encouraging words have helped a lot of the years.
Oh! I'm glad this has gotten bumped back up. I'd forgotten about this thread. :)So, some of you might recall my panic over the news that I had diabetes. I got that phone call back in April. I had my follow up visit last week - after several months of changing my eating and exercise habits, I was told I've lost 30 lbs and best of all, my a1C (3 mo blood sugar avg) are back to that of a normal person's.
My doc told me that if I can keep this up until April rolls around again, then I won't have to take meds anymore. Vitals were great, too. :)
Phil wrote: "Thirty pounds in "several months?" Sweeeet!Good work!"
Yep... so May, June, July, August, September, October... that averages out to about 6 lbs a month. That's about right. :)
Jonathan wrote: "That's great news, Heidi. Fingers crossed for April."Well, actually I didn't word that right - she said that if I show up in April with the same numbers she won't be disappointed... she'd be very happy with me, and she'll take me off my meds. I.E. I don't have to continue making progress, but since I'm still motivated, it'll likely happen.
Oh! Also, I started doing the Couch to 10K plan about a month ago... I needed a prep week to prep for week 1 (ha!). I've never been a runner or a jogger, and I move at a snail's pace, but I'm doing it. AND I'm doing it without the aid of my inhaler. I've added that into my weekly workout routine which has mostly been low impact aerobics and some weight-lifting/strength training. I prefer to do it when it's dark outside - so either right after the sun goes down or before the sun comes up. I like to pretend zombies are after me or there's am impending apocalypse or alien invasion, and I'm running (at previously mentioned snail's pace) for my life. When I found out that there's really a run w/ that theme, I got a kick out of it. If I'd put a pen to paper with that idea years ago when I thought of it, I could quit my job and be a very happy person.
Yay! Come join my running thread, Heidi! I'm impressed that you're doing to 10K. I got to 6K but I'm having trouble finding the time to push farther. I like to run just after the sun has come up and nobody is out.

Awesome Heidi! Not much of an accomplishment by comparison, but I'm rather proud of myself for snapping at my boss today (lol). I rarely speak my mind with him, as he makes me nervous, but I couldn't stand being contradicted one more time about something I knew and he obviously didn't.
Pat wrote: "I have now visited all of the lower 48 states. By car."Wow, that's pretty impressive! I've never been away from the East coast, so the idea of visiting the whole 48 is crazy (in a good way)
Congratulations to Jim on your talent; Lee on your persistance; Heidi on your perserverence (and if that's spelt incorrectly, well, then, it just is) and Amber on releasing her inner bitch!! Go y'all!!!My only recent accomplishment is lasting the week of the full moon without going absolutely apeshit crazy dealing with the kids.
Selling 2 paintings to a couple from Taos! I was on cloud 9.
Lady Alice that is awesome!! Congratulations! Mine was selling a sculpture to the City of Arvada and having it installed in City Hall. :D

Congratulations to you both, Alice and Kogijiki. I liked the piece in the linked photo, K--and the red overalls!
WOOT!!! That's excellent news for you both, Alice & Kogijiki. :) I love that sculpture and, like Jonathan, the overalls!

Enjoyed seeing your sculpture! Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks!
Thanks!
I have been working on two significant projects this year. The first one I succeeded in accomplishing a result at the end of June. The second is about to be completed in the next couple of weeks. There are a couple of people in the group who know what these achievements have been. What they have involved has been very stressful and at times things have been very hard to deal with. I am not sure that proud is the right word. I haven't necessarily achieved these things in the most graceful manner. It would be nice to think I could be one of those people who could take on a challenge and come out covered in glory. I haven't but at least I have achieved what I set out to do.
