Cathy Galloway | 878 comments For this one, do you round up or down?

The Hydra - Sloth - Your attack power for this head will be based on average of weapons (e.g. staff is at 9, sword is at 5, attack power is 7).

My sword is 5 and my staff is 8 so I round to 6.5

I believe that you round down to 6. Might be better to level up one of your weapons.

Let's go with round down since otherwise a 7 and 8 would be the same as matching. I'll add it to the FAQ when I get to it :P

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Is Hercules a Greek god?

Wikipedia calls him a "divine hero" and the son of Zeus.

message 4605: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments I always thought that he was only a demi-god, he was a mortal, he died on a pyre after being poisoned and only after his death was invited to Olympus to dwell among gods.

message 4606: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Hmm. It says he's a demi-god, half god half mortal.

But then I found "In Greek mythology, only two figures with half-mortal, half-immortal parentage—Hercules and Dionysus—became fully immortal and were worshiped as gods.

So I'm inclined to say yes.

Cathy Galloway | 878 comments Read a book with the main genre (listed on the first page on GR) as Urban Fantasy (3 Gold)

Does this mean that Urban Fantasy has to be the first genre listed on the page or just be on the book's main page?

message 4609: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Books main page is fine.

Sounds like it to me. Being framed is a matter of intent. Someone has deliberately gone out of their way through action or not speaking up to promote that person's conviction.

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments Also another question about a "sharp object" on the cover... on this one the man has a sword The Tudor Secret (The Spymaster Chronicles, #1) by C.W. Gortner , even though you can't see the tip.

Yeah that's ok.

Zuzana | 2570 comments Kelly, could you please answer my questions from last week? Thanks.

Zuzana wrote: "Kelly, would you accept frogs for prey animals? They are hunted by herons, otters and some species of snakes.

I have a couple of questions about mercenaries.

When I hire one, the contract is for 7 days. May I rehire them once the first contract expires?

Also I'd like to know if the mercenary bussiness is part of the single-player? (the heroes don't compete among themselves who gets to hire a specific mercenary and can hire them at their leisure). "

message 4618: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Frogs can be prey. Yes you can rehire mercenaries after their contract expires. And yes it's single player so no fighting with others over the mercenaries. Just one at a time.

Zuzana | 2570 comments Just a friendly reminder:

If you haven't done so already, use your birthday cards. They're going to expire on Tuesday, 15th December.

message 4621: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Lane Have (any newer) quests been expiring though.? I haven't seen anything in months on the quest page saying they are. :/

message 4622: by Zuzana (last edited Dec 13, 2015 07:22AM) (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments I believe you can use your cards on any quest even those that don't have an expiration date announced yet.

BTW I think that some of the quests are going to expire either next month or in February. We were talking about the game getting too complex for new players and expiring some of the really old quests makes sense to me.

message 4623: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Lane But I should use it on a quest now that will probably be expiring? I didn't know I could do that. Sounds good. I just post in my own quest log which quests I intend to use the gift cards towards, by 12/15?

message 4624: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments That's how I do it. :)

message 4625: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments I plan on doing some re-organization to make things a bit clearer for new folks once I get off work for the year. I was going to group quests into categories and list them all under one area. I'll keep the notice board for when things are released but I'll try and not have that be the main source of information anymore.

I also want to break apart the rules section into separate posts for each area of the game then have one overall area that directs people to the different areas. (e.g. a monster area, a quest area, a weapons area, etc.)

message 4626: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments Great idea, Kelly!

I totally missed this. What's it from?

message 4628: by Zuzana (new)

message 4629: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Lane That'll be good- the way it is currently you kinda have to just sit down and read through each page chronologically to figure out how the overall game works. Having a main page broken into sections with links would be very user friendly for people

message 4630: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments Thanks Zuzana! Didn't see that at all. haha. Though I wouldn't have an idea of where to apply them personally, I'm sure it would help some of those who just joined with things potentially expiring soon.

You might want to consider the large quests that you might not get around to just yet. The Academic Quests, Death's Wish, -- anything involving 10 or more books.

Don't forget there will be more cards available next year too.

message 4632: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments What Reva said. I used one for the Spock's quest earlier this year. And I'll probably use one for the Relay race. It has a really good ratio amount of books/XPs and potions. Other quests that are essential for attacking some of the major baddies have priority but this one is too good to miss hence the extention card.

message 4633: by Morgan (last edited Dec 13, 2015 11:32AM) (new)

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments I've already finished most of those and have two timewalker potions banked up, so apart from maybe like....one academic quest? (Which I wouldn't be too bothered over...) I finished all the others in time.

But like I said would definitely help those who haven't been around from the start and/or don't read as much volume-wise.

If you like the 1st one, you should like the rest of the series even more! I thought it started to get really good around book 3 :)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Ahh. Only made it through the first one on that so far. So many good books I keep getting distracted.

I went through my last 2 years and added all the next in series to a special shelf so I could find them all and I had 212 :-/ I think I may have a problem.

I am making a concerted effort to finish off some series I've been sitting on for ages. I'm almost done with the Kingdom Sage/Hawk & Fisher series. Then I'm thinking of maybe trying to finish Glen Cook's Black Company. I'm on book 6 or 7 out of 12 I think.

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments I just read #5 of Kate Daniels series a couple weeks ago. 3 more to go!

My problem is that I keep starting new series without finishing the ones I've already started. Or can't seem to fit them into the challenges/goals we currently have >.<

Oh god Kelly, that's a lot! I'd hate to see what my # is!
