The Stand (1153 pages)

Correct.

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments Sweet! I don't know if I am more excited that I "mathed" correctly, or that it's actually worth that much.

Much better place for that than in one of the 500 page book slots for the bed. haha.

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Hehe. I did deliver on a quest that was better for super long books :)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Really great update for this month. Thanks! LOVE THE BAUBLES

Just to clarify:

4 Read a book with more than 100, but less than 1000 goodreads reviews (3 Gold)

Did you mean reviews or ratings?

message 4405: by Emily (new)

Emily To clarify - the Bauble is a permanent addition to your weapon? So it isn't just a "use it one battle and lose it" kind of thing?

reviews. Ratings is a different goal that can come up.

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments I've looked up a few audio books on Amazon and none of them had the running time. Where do we find that?

Use http://www.audible.com/ . They have the exact running time to the minute. :)

On amazon for audio books it's listed under product details You have to do a bit of scrolling with most to get to that section. If you use overdrive app for library books it's listed under title information for each. Same thing as with audible: hours and minutes.

Daphne (daphnesm) | 937 comments Thought I'd throw this book out there for fellow adventurers. I haven't read it yet, but I have it loaded on my kindle. This is for that pesky collect 100 bug quest. If one would be so inclined, this book has over 100 instances of 'bugs' that can complete the whole quest in one book. I bet there are more options, but these are just the ones I thought of searching for.

Collect them All
Collect 100 bugs. Each instance of a bug found in a book may count, multiple instances may be found in each book however books with insects found may not be used for other tasks. (Find Items Potion may be stacked for this quest). Bugs include Ants, Beetles, Flies, Mosquitoes, Spiders, and anything else you would denote as a creepy crawly.
Lifeblood: How to Change the World One Dead Mosquito at a Time
Mosquitoes = 35 times
Mosquito = 30 times
Flies = 1 time
Bugs = 3 times
Insects = 33 times
Fly = 1 time
Parasite = 20 times
Flies = 1 time
For capturing all the bugs earn +10 Experience and 1 Time Walking Potion.

Rabbit Angstrom: The Four Novels 1,520 pages
The Dying Grass: A Novel of the Nez Perce War 1,356 pages
Man, Economy, and State with Power and Market: Government and Economy 1,441 pages

This list might help. It's where I've been searching for the massive books over 1k: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/4...

Yep already read Texas, fiery cross, war and peace. I may read Noble House again. Dying grass looks interesting, if I can source it.

Will check out the link
Thanks :-)

Natasha | 1140 comments May I recommend Clarissa, or, the History of a Young Lady? I have the unabridged edition sitting on my bookshelf and it's over 1500 pages. The 5,000 leagues quest is a great reason to read it.

With the scrounger list dwindling and gold at a premium, I doubt that the next monster will get taken down so quickly.

Well, one of my dogs is named Xerxes, but that doesn't help us here. :)

I haven't been able to find a single example either, and I've searched every way I can think to search.

message 4439: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments There's a pet a-z challenge in the challenge folder that has a few x's I think. Otherwise searching the gladiator games thread maybe.

message 4441: by Reva (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Alyssa wrote: "What quest do we need that for?"

It's for the November Classifieds. Each book you read from the list gets you 3 GOLD.

message 4442: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Lane Oh okay. I can think of a Z or two but not any X's... :/

message 4443: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments I have it randomly select those for me from the list of goals from gladiator games so despite anyone grumbling I don't intentionally pick out hard or easy ones :P

message 4444: by Reva (last edited Nov 18, 2015 04:58PM) (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Ok Guys, the Open Market will be upon us soon. I've completed both BAUBLES for Staff and Sword. Does anyone have any specific reading requests?

If you plan to attack ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT, drop all other quests and get your BAUBLES.

The Battle of the Queens shows how crucial they are in any protracted battle. Couple BAUBLES with Growing Weapon Potions -- you get double the attack power -- and you'd be invincible!

message 4445: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Ooh you're taking requests Reva? Sweet! Mine would be book with an inventor please :)

And for "Read a book where someone builds something physical." what does that mean exactly? Someone builds something with their hands? I think I have a book for that but just wanted to be sure.

One inventor coming up. ;-)

I used a book with a carpenter and another where a doctor built a jury rigged oxygen tent/incubator with next to nothing, for a premie in the Outback.

message 4447: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Cathy, it could even be a building or something with machines. Just not building a webpage or building a resume type things that don't have a physical world result.

message 4448: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments I need help with: Read a book where something exists that no one believes in.
Are we talking ghosts? love? what?

message 4449: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments Would a creature no one thought existed any more turning out to exist work?

message 4450: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Teresa wrote: "Would a creature no one thought existed any more turning out to exist work?"

Yes.

As to your previous question it depends on the book since if it's a book where everyone knows aliens exist then it doesn't count but if they discover aliens and everyone goes "Ack! There's aliens!" then it would count.

Its ok if only the main character knows they exist as well. So if the main character can speaks to ghosts and no one else believes then it's ok. It should be the majority of the public that doesn't believe the "thing" exists when the book starts.
