Have a quick question - if I use a Damage Potion, that increases the attack power for both Sword & Staff right?
And for the Blue Dragon, I can use 3 M..."
Kelly, was it decided that one could stack the damage potion and the enhanced weapon potion for +3 and +3 = 6?
If not shouldn't Cathy's attack read:
With level 8 staff your attack is 8 + 2 bonus + 1 (horse) + 2 (cat) +3 enhanced = 16
hero attacks dragon 16-40 = 24
Dragon attacks hero 18 -19 = 1 HP
2 Heal Potions 20 +1 = 21
hero attacks dragon 14 - 24 = 10 (no cat this round)
Dragon attacks hero 18 -21 = 3 HP
hero attacks dragon 14 - 10. Dragon Dead

-- unless Cathy is planning further attacks this week.

I saw that others had "stacked" the different potions so I thought that was okay. Whew, thank god it is because I was totally banking on it! I used both so that I could defeat the dragon in the least amount of attacks possible and the higher amount of HP. Also had to take into account what potions I had and what I'm reading for, and knowing I'm leveling up soon. I'm probably overthinking things or overlooking things but it's been fun trying to figure out how to get it done :)
Just in case here are the attacks for the Red & Blue dragons I had planned (Red's ready, Blue not yet since i still need to finish 2 books for a couple minor heal potions) -
Red Dragon - 15 Attack 50 Health - Reward: 30 Exp, Orb of Fire (adds 3 attack to staff)
(view spoiler)
Blue Dragon - 15 Attack 60 Health - Reward: 30 Exp, Orb of Water (automatically heal one health at the end of every fight)
(view spoiler)
Hopefully I didn't mess anything up!

It was a theoretical. For future potions :)

Yay! for more potions.
Does it mean that you're working on the November update already, Kelly? If so could you include some new Uncommon monsters (or Timed ones like Drop Bears), pretty please. We have plenty of rare monsters to kill but I bet that the uncommon fauna is extinct or almost extinct for most of the players.
WELCOME BACK, Nancy Helen! You were having an exciting time lately. :) Big congrats on your wedding! :)

The Swarm - The swarm is ruled by a Queen Bee. Every turn she will call upon her drones to assist her. The number of drones that come to her aid each turn is equal to the number of creatures currently attacking. (Example: Only Queen Bee, next round will have Queen Bee and 1 Drone. If there is a Queen Bee and 7 Drones, next round will have Queen Bee and 15 Drones (7+8)) Each round you may only attack one creature unless you are using area of attack abilities, then your attack hits all creatures currently in the battle.
Queen Bee: 20 Attack 100 Health
Drone Bee: 4 Attack 10 Health
Reward: 40 Experience, White Gem of Power
1 Rug
1 Pet Plus potion
1 Damage Potion
1 Enhanced Weapon Potion
1 Minor Poison Potion
Puppy attack +2
Horse +2
Orb of Fire + 3
Cat +4
✯Hero Lvl 11 ✯Health: 14 +1 ✯Sword Lvl 6 (+ 6) =12 ✯ Staff Level 17(+6) =23 ✯Exp 1217
1 Major Heal Potion 15 + 15 = 30
Hero attacks Queen Bee 17 +2 +2 pup +3 orb +2 horse +2 minor pp +3 damage +3 enhanced wp +4 cat= 38 - 100 = 62
Swarm Attack Strength: Queen only = 20
Swarm attacks Hero 20 - 30 = 10 HP
4 Minor Heal Potions 20 + 10 = 30 HP
Hero attacks Queen Bee 34 - 62 = 28
Swarm Attack Strength: Queen + 1 Drone = 20 + 4 =24
Swarm attacks 24 - 30 = 6 HP
Rug employed
Hero attacks Queen Bee 34 - 28 = Queen Dead
Hero attacks Drone #1: 34 - 10 = Drone #1 Dead
Hero attacks Drone #2: 34 - 10 = Drone #2 Dead
Reward: 40 Experience, White Gem of Power
✯Hero Lvl 11 ✯Health: 6 +1 ✯Sword Lvl 6 (+ 6) =12 ✯ Staff Level 17(+6) =23 ✯Exp 1257
AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH
*****I wasn't sure about the rug -- as to whether it was only good for 1 turn in the battle or if it could be used for each turn.
Being able to stack the Enhanced and Damage Potions sure makes a difference!
I agree with Zuzana Woolymarks are done and dusted. Need more monsters. Aaarrrgggghhhh

If it weren't so and the drones were called at the beginning of the round then in your battle in the round in question there would be a queen and 3 drones (because in the previous round there were a queen and 1 drone, you didn't kill the drone so the number doubles 2x2=4, hence 1 queen + 3 drones). But it doesn't matter because you killed the queen before she had a chance to call her drones. So you attack only the queen and her 1 drone. You killed them both, end of battle!
I asked a whole lot of questions about the swarm and how the duplication and the area of attack work, you can look it up, most of the questions and Kelly's answers are on page 78 of this thread.

We're in Adelaide in Australia - so literally the other side of the world from where we were before. It's a bit tough getting settled but the hot weather certainly helps :-)

Queen only
Queen plus one
Queen plus two 1 + 1 = 2
Queen plus three 2+ 3 = 5
Queen plus four 5 + 4 = 9 etc
If the rug can only be used once in a battle, then only one creature, Either the queen OR the drone can be attacked in round two. I chose to attack the queen.
That carries the drone forward into round three. The swarm is generated before the round. Even if my numbers are wrong and it is queen plus 3 drones, it's immaterial since I employed the rug and can attack and kill everything.

From the rules:
The Swarm: "...The number of drones that come to her (Queen's) aid each turn is equal to the number of creatures currently attacking. (Example: Only Queen Bee, next round will have Queen Bee and 1 Drone. If there is a Queen Bee and 7 Drones, next round will have Queen Bee and 15 Drones (7+8)..."
If you look at the example it should go like this:
1st round: Queen only
2nd round: Queen + 1 drone
3rd round: (Queen + 1 drone) + 2 drones = Queen + 3 drones
4th round: (Queen + 3 drones) + 4 drones = Queen + 7 drones
5th round: (Queen + 7 drones) + 8 drones = Queen + 15 drones
Look at round 5 - see it's the same as Kelly's example

Zuzana wrote: "Kelly, I have a question about the swarm. if in round 2 i use the area of attack and kill the drone bee, how many drone bees will attack me next round? 1+2=3 new drones or 1 (dead)+2= 2 new drones?
I'd like to point out that hp levels are too low to make attacking the swarm realistic. lvl 10 heroes have only 28 hp (29 with health gem). Attack power of the swarm in round 3 is enough to kill the hero in one hit. "
Kelly wrote: "After your round is when the duplication happens so if you kill off all the drones then only 1 will spawn the next round.
I'll re-look at the Area of effect stuff but that's the intent. I don't think anyone would want to kill it without aoe. "
Zuzana wrote: "So only the surviving drones (+ 1 for the queen) are duplicated?
As for aoa: you can use it only once per battle. at least that's what i got from the wording."
Kelly wrote: "for that one. There can be other things added to allow additional aoe attacks :)
And yes. Only the surviving drones +1 are duplicated. "
Zuzana wrote: "O.k. One last question, i swear. When the queen is killed, the remaining drones will continue to attack but they can't call other drones to help. Right?"
Kelly wrote: "Yes"
The bold part is crucial for the battle. The duplication takes place after hero's round, not after Queen's round.

:)"
Happy birthday, Kelly! :) and thanks for another great update.

Silly question, but do we get the reward when we defeat all 10?

The benefit of writing my own birthday quest :)

You know:
Beach Chair, Palm Tree or Umbrella, Sun Glasses, Big Smile

Happy Birthday Kelly! Hope you have a wonderful one :)
