There's no restrictions on which potions you buy. You could buy 20 minor heal potions if you wanted. I wanted to let people get the ones they needed.

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Thanks. A new list would be appreciated. Maybe we can get it earlier than the next update? I hate having read books that have items in them but not remembering which books -- and Overdrive doesn't have any search features.

;-)

I've found books.google.com to be very useful. You can turn on the filters for books only which helps limit it a bit.

I suspect that something may come out mid month but I don't want to promise anything until I see how Gladiator Games shake out since we're a bit busy with that right now.

That sounds like fun. Crazy but fun.

My husband's been wanting us to move to New Zealand for a long time now.

We're setting up teams now and tweaking them. I'm hoping tonight we get the boards and spreadsheets up. We'll see if it's done being tweaked.

I know turmeric is mentioned

It's a good book and an enjoyable movie.

Alex | 1018 comments I've been struck down with tonsillitis but felt well enough this evening to try and get my head around the update.

Firstly... yay for none expiring! I can continue working on the horse, Everybody Lies, and all the other quests that everybody apart from me has already completed :-P

The Scrounger quest is an excellent idea. I used the feature to search all the books on my kindle and already have books that have even turmeric and St John's Wort in! Nice when life is easy :-) Obviously I have cookbooks there but as I never read them cover to cover I'd feel guilty submitting them for challenges.

I've found turmeric in:
Bad Science by Ben Goldacre & Life of Pi by Yann Martel .

In the Scrounger Hunt, can we find more than one item per book?

No. One item per book. And each item only once.

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments A question re Hydra:

If you attack more than one hydra head on the same day, does the minor poison potion apply to the second head -- since it's the same body.

Valid point but I think no since they're pretty separate.

message 3722: by Zuzana (last edited Aug 02, 2015 07:18AM) (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments Reva, this is what Kelly said about the blanket:

Kelly wrote: "Reva wrote: "A few questions:

Can you explain the area of effect of the blanket?

What does the puppy do?"

Ahh things for the future :) The Area of Effect will be useful for the monster next month and works generally like area of effect spells work in games. It will be for particular types of monsters but very useful for those."

Zuzana wrote: "I wonder about the horse rug. I have no idea what area of effect attack could mean."

Kelly wrote: Area of Effect is an attack that hits a group of monsters. Next month's monster will be easier to kill using this :) But you can always wait to see the monster first if you want.

Ok. I was planning on having it more on a monthly basis and I have a new thing in place that I plan to have out mid month.

I'll do one follow up list which hopefully takes you to mid month where we can transition to the new stuff.

You may cross items between the scrounger quests and you may work on both at the same time.

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Re scrounger list books

They can be read before August 1/15. ?

Re list #2:

• Needles
• Spices
• Spectacles
• Clocks

Can these be singular or must they be plural?

message 3735: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Yes they can be read before and yes they can be singular but must be the same word. (E.g. Spectacles can't be glasses)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments For the Alchemy Quest,
Boar Liver may be found in books containing a boar or pig (dead or alive).

does it have to be an actual boar, or is a mention enough?

It should be one where the boar is present with the characters. It can be a brief mention like "The boar sat on the table stewing in its own juices." But it shouldn't be a "Once when I was a boy I hunted a boar"
