The base +2 would be included in the initial calculation. Horse and Orbs would be after.

Honestly, though, I'm more wondering specifically about Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - I have no idea if "Ngozi" is considered a second first name or part of a double last name. :)

Edit: I have found another author that I would like to use if this one doesn't work, but I'm still curious. :)

From hew web site I'd say that Ngozi is her middle name, so you can use her.
Second one is working too.

But yes, idea was that it has to be two first names, not two last names.

Okay, thanks for the clarification! I assumed you meant two first names, based on the example, but I wanted to be sure.

Just glancing through my TBR, I'd say it's about half and half for me - half of the three-name authors use two first names and half use two last names. Then there are those like Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Benjamin Alire Sáenz that I don't know which is which. :)

After all defeating one dragon got us an orb worth +3 on attack. You're asking us to attack the equivalent of 8 dragons for just 2 out of the 5 Gems.

And not wanting to sound mean spirited but The Title of Power should give players a buy in to the gems.

And now you want us to do even more to activate the gems? It's not worth it now and you want to make it worse? Truly evil.

You're taking this out of the hands of all but 5 players. -- Not fair to the rest.

To clarify (for my sake) -

If we complete the One Shield to Rule Them All Quest and get the shield - does it work to negate an attack point even without the Gems?

I'm a lowly knight who is nowhere near capable of defeating the big monsters, so Gems are out of the question, but will the shield still work for me if I complete the Quest? Or does it only negate an attack point once you've completed the Quest AND got the Gems? The wording of the Quest is confusing to me.

And as far as the Dragons and Hydras and Gems and whatnot - even though I'll probably never be able to play at that high a level, I enjoy seeing what you guys are able to come up with next. I understood going into this game that some of the stuff would be out of my range, but I still enjoy playing. I don't mind that I'll most likely never have a fully-activated shield. I still like seeing what you guys come up with. :)

The blacksmith needs some steel wool (a grey covered book) to polish the shield and smooth oil (a smooth book) to make it shine.

Then you must find the 5 Gems of Power and insert them into your shield.
White, Purple, Blue, Red, Green

Reward: One Shield - Negates one attack point from physical enemy attacks.

The Gems must be activated to achieve their full power.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, you need the gems to get the weaker shield. Then future quests will activate each gem endowing them with as yet unknown powers.

The shield won't do anything til you have the 5 gems. Then after you have the shield with the first ability there will be quests to activate each of the 5 gems for additional stats.

Finally I got to the computer and read the update. I was on my phone until today afternoon so only part I was able to read was about the hydra. It was torture to see all the questions here and not know specifics of new quests. :-)

I love the new monster. It's totally insane. I might need to play at least another year to kill that one. BTW We'll need an astounding number of heal potions to kill hydra and jabberwocky - you might rethink the potion cap policy, Kelly. Even if I magically completed all the quests that bring heal potions I would have nowhere near enough to tackle the hydra.

I love one of the new potions - the Pet Plus Potion. it's going to be handy in the battle with jabberwocky and some of the hydra heads. I wonder if there's going to be a quest or a monster in the future where the weakening potion woul be of any use.

Yeah pet plus is a priority.

I think the weakening potion was aimed at the head you must kill to exactly 0.

Hydra should have been the culminating monster with other difficult ones like the Jabberwocky in between.

That was my intent though it may come in use for future monsters that have interesting rules I haven't thought of yet. It's fun to see the way people combine things to get advantages.

Area of Effect is an attack that hits a group of monsters. Next month's monster will be easier to kill using this :) But you can always wait to see the monster first if you want.

Re shield: I hoped that we could activate gems as we get them, not after collecting them all. Never mind, slaying hydra is so far in the future that it doesn't bother me at all.

Re the shield: to extend it to others perhaps intermediary pseudo gems can be used with lesser benefits -- that players could get from other quests.

Later to be replaced gems of full power.

I have something in the works to help out with potions. I know you guys will need more. I anticipate that Hydra will take even the top players awhile to take out :)

I didn't want to let it go too late since a lot of the heads benefit from opposites so it's easier the earlier you can plan for it. I wasn't expecting anyone to be able to do it this month. These are supposed to be dragon level creatures so they require a lot of planning.

Updated the quest text to be a lot clearer and also added in that the item in a title can count. My modifiers were dangling all over the place.

There may be a new list in a future update. I'm planning on a way for people to be able to get potions on a more regular basis. You can't repeat this list though.
